Stuck Again
Diet Lite Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Singing 'bout how I don't mind
Been bounced around from side to side
But don't you close those hard eyes
An oral prostitution shifted the illusion
Soldiering confusion with ragged words diffusing
Compromised perception upholding your pretensions
That thick-skinned intervention was our great inventionDon't feed it
Don't feed it
You're gonna need it
You're gonna need it
Don't feed it
Don't feed it
You're gonna need it, need it, need it, need it
Soft in the country home so why
Don't you wander towards those concrete miles
Away from flesh you so despise
Bloodlust they need to keep inside
The lanes you're choosing covered in ash and booze and
Sleazy eats left musing of love of disillusion
So fear the entertainer
Hold your own retainer
Stick to guns you're using
You can without shooting
Don't use it
Don't use it
You're gonna lose it
You're gonna lose it
Don't use it
Don't use it
You're gonna lose it, lose it, lose it, lose it
Lose it
Lose it
Lose it
The lyrics of Diet Lite's song "Stuck Again" convey a sense of frustration and disillusionment with the state of the world, as well as with personal struggles and inner conflicts. The song begins by describing the singer's experiences being dragged into battles and constantly shifting perspectives, while emphasizing the need to stay aware and not shut down emotionally. The line "An oral prostitution shifted the illusion" suggests a manipulation of truth and the selling of distorted narratives.
The lyrics then touch on the theme of compromise and the pressure to uphold certain societal expectations and pretensions. The phrase "thick-skinned intervention" refers to the ways in which people try to protect themselves from the complexities of life by putting up emotional barriers. However, the chorus urges against feeding into this defensive mindset, indicating that it will ultimately be detrimental and that one will come to need a more open and vulnerable outlook.
The second verse takes a more introspective turn, contrasting the harshness of the urban environment ("concrete miles") with the softness and tranquility of the country home. It suggests a desire to distance oneself from the negative aspects of society and the self-loathing that it can foster. The mention of "bloodlust they need to keep inside" hints at the dark impulses and aggression that people may suppress in order to conform.
In the latter half of the song, the lyrics emphasize the importance of remaining true to oneself and not succumbing to external pressures. The line "Stick to guns you're using, you can without shooting" suggests that it is possible to stand firm in one's beliefs and values without resorting to violence or aggression. The repeated refrain of "Don't use it, you're gonna lose it" serves as a reminder to resist the temptation to compromise one's integrity and authenticity.
Overall, "Stuck Again" can be interpreted as a call to stay true to oneself, resist societal pressures, and maintain a sense of emotional honesty and vulnerability in a world that often encourages disconnection and shallow illusions.
