Start To Finish
Dikta Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
So many drowned, so many dead
A winding road for me to tread
A million miles to reach the end
So glad I have you to call a friend
No need to lie or to pretend
Don't let me go, don't let me go
A frozen fright of losing out
Has smothered my life, without a doubt
Why couldn't I see what it's all about?
But a lesson learned not long ago
Is you should not fear what you don't know
So I pick myself up and just let go
Don't let me go, don't let me go
Don't let me go, don't let me go
Coming around, I'm coming around
She knows, she knows it's a part of me
I'm coming around
A river runs right through my head
So many drowned, so many dead
You changed my life with the things you said
A final footprint in the sand
We're finally home and here we stand
Both feet on the ground and hand in hand
Don't let me go, don't let me go
Don't let me go, don't let me go
Coming around, I'm coming around
She knows, she knows it's a part of me
I'm coming around
Coming around, I'm coming around
She knows, she knows she's a part of me
I'm coming around
The lyrics to Dikta's song "Start To Finish" speak to the struggles and challenges that come with life - especially when dealing with mental health issues. The metaphor of the river is used throughout the song to represent the thoughts and emotions that run through the singer's mind. The river is at times overwhelming, with so many people having drowned or fallen victim to its powerful currents. The singer acknowledges the difficulty of the journey ahead, but is grateful for their friend's companionship along the way.
The second verse reflects on a past fear of the unknown, of not being able to see the forest for the trees. But the singer has learned to let go of this fear, to embrace the uncertainty that life brings. This growth is further emphasized in the third verse, where the singer recognizes the positive influence of the person they are addressing. This connection is symbolized by the imagery of a final footprint in the sand, and the two standing together, hand in hand.
Overall, the lyrics of "Start To Finish" are a powerful reminder that life is a journey full of both beauty and struggle. While the river of our thoughts and emotions may be overwhelming at times, it's important to remember that we don't have to face it alone, and that growth and change are always possible.
