BDFFRNT
Dillon Chase Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Jesus and his followers are in the world
Don't take them out
The world will perish
They are like salt
They are light
Keep them there with all its mess and all its confusion
Keep them there
But don't let them be of the world

They wanted me to get in that frame
Four corners all the same
If I never let go of that mold than it's all in vain
Second grade a reckless slave everyday swept away and hoping people's love would never change.
Tried please everyone but God
Yeah I put up gods
But inside I was dying finding out life is hard I remember I cried until my nose was raw My mom was strung out on that alcohol
She won't recall
When they told me that's her body outside the hospital
My life was out of control, whatever I got into
I know my dad got high, had me looking low
This hurt had me in the dirt and this garden wouldn't grow.

They say, I would do the same but ...

Overall Meaning

In Dillon Chase's song "BDFFRNT," he speaks about the importance of Christians being present and active in the world, even amidst its chaos and confusion. Jesus and his followers are like salt and light, meant to stay in the world and preserve it, but not conform to its ways. Dillon discusses his personal struggles with trying to fit into a mold and please others, but realizing that the only way to truly live is by surrendering to God and letting go of societal expectations. He references difficult experiences with a mother struggling with alcohol addiction and a father involved in drugs, leading to a feeling of being lost and hopeless. Despite these challenges, Dillon finds hope and meaning in his faith and encourages others to not be afraid to stand out and be different in a world that often seeks conformity.

Overall, this song is a powerful message about the struggle to navigate life as a Christian in a world that can be overwhelming and disorienting. It reminds listeners of the importance of remaining in the world to be a positive influence and to celebrate the unique ways in which each person is called to be different and set apart.

Tears me up on the inside, hearing those lyrics that say "my story isn't fair, cause it's full of grace" of all the people I've felt justified to say that in regards to having hardship, he says it in the opposite way, just proves there's so much to Christ.
