Daylight
Dillon Fence Lyrics

Darkness was endless and I kept seeing ghosts turn in shades of gray
I wanted to see things just the way they used to be
Don't want those shadows hanging over me
[Chorus]
Daylight, I want to see daylight
want to see daylight that shines all around
want to see daylight that shines all around
Hours and hours in towers on the back road of tragedy
Voices are calling and fingers come on crawling all over me
Then when I sit up and my hands begin to shake
Suddenly there I see the dawn break
[Chorus]
Only one thing keeping me sane, oh
[Chorus]
The song "Daylight" by Dillon Fence is a plea for hope and positivity. The lyrics describe the feeling of being trapped in darkness and the desire to see the light of day once again. The refrain of "Daylight, I want to see daylight, want to see daylight that shines all around" is a powerful declaration of the need for brightness and hope.
The first verse describes the struggle with depression or mental illness, where the darkness seems to stretch on forever and everything is gray and lifeless. However, the singer doesn't want to stay in that state forever and longs to see things as they used to be, with color and vibrancy. The shadows that hang over the singer represent their negative thoughts and emotions, and they want to shake them off.
The second verse adds depth to the metaphor of darkness and despair, with the imagery of towers and tragedy. The voices and fingers crawling all over the singer could represent anxiety, paranoia, or the feeling of being watched or judged. But as the dawn breaks, the darkness is finally lifted and the singer feels a glimmer of hope.
Overall, "Daylight" is a song about facing inner darkness and fighting for a brighter tomorrow. It speaks to the universal experience of struggling with mental health and the need for hope to keep going.
