Yo no se lo que me pasa
La sangre se me alborota
Y el negro me lleva más
En el fondo del solar
Hay un tremendo barullo
Ya suenan los cuerosYa empiezan los bailes
Ya la china thomasa.
Un santo
Yo si soy rumbo bravo
Te lo vine a demostrar
Ya esta se él rumbon
La rumbo es para los soneros
Ahora voy a descargar
Gua gua gua gua guaguanco
Ahí la rumbo la traigo yo
The lyrics to the song Suena El Cuero by Dimension Latina describe the intense and undeniable power of the drums in Afro-Latin music. The singer admits that when they hear the drums, they don't know what comes over them, and their blood starts to surge. The energy and rhythm of the music take over, led by the powerful beat of the drums played by a black drummer.
The song takes place in the backyard of a house or perhaps in the streets of a Latino neighborhood, where there is a commotion in anticipation of the music. The drums start to play, and people start to dance, led by a woman named China Tomasa, probably a reference to an Afro-Latina woman. The singer declares that they are a wild and free-spirited person who came to demonstrate their prowess in dancing to the rhythm of the music, and they will not hold back.
The lyrics express the joy, passion, and irresistible pull of Afro-Latin music and dance, particularly the drumming, which serves as the heartbeat of the community. It is a celebration of identity, culture, and heritage, reflecting the African and Indigenous roots of the music genre.
