In the late 90s he decides to seek fortune in the UK, his native country. In London his career gets a boost thanks to a long series of important remixes: Inxs, Underworld, Missy Elliot, Timbaland etc and the collaborations with The Housemartins, Scissors Sisters, Wu Tang Clan, Madonna, just to mention a few names and a collaboration with Steve Lawler on Viva Rec.
His productions are just as interesting as the remixes and Dino Lenny earns for three times in a row the label of " Essential New Tune" on Radio One (BBC) by Pete Tong. Considered "A Wizard of the Electronic music" by the Chemical Brothers, Dino Lenny explores the full range of his potentialities and starts singing.
In 2011 Dino performs live with Skin & Underworld at The Brixton Academy. After David Byrne's approval "I Wanna be Like Talking Heads/ A Dj Deep Inside" gets released on Strictly Rhythm. The story continues in the summer of 2014 with releases on Exploited, Suara, Off Recordings and upcoming releases in 2015 on Damian's Lazarus Rebellion.
Dino's main project at the moment is with Maceo Plex's label Ellum that has already released the well received Eps "It's Saturday" & Living In a Song" with rmxs from Gardens of God Shall Ocin & Rebolledo. More to come this winter on Ellum.
Meanwhile Dino has also had time to launch his exciting brand new label Fine Human Records..!
Change the World
Dino Lenny Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Just back up from the border for a short visit
Not at home right now and normally
I wouldn't answer the phone on mysef
But frankly I can't stand the ringing
And I don't wanna take your message
You know now I'm talking about power
Just start talking
If there's someone who's paying attention
Thanks a lot ( X 2 )
So you thought you'd like to change the world
Decided to stage a jumble sale
For the poor, for the poor
It's a wasted time if you know what I mean
Try shaking a box in front of the Queen
'Cause her purse is fat and bursting at the seams
It's a wasted time if you know what I mean
The song "Change the World" by Dino Lenny seems to start off as a voicemail message left by a certain Jack who just got back from the border and is not in the mood to take any messages. He talks about power and then prompts the caller to leave a message after the beep, indicating that he might have some important or urgent business to attend to. The song then transitions to a commentary on the futility of trying to effect change in the world, using the example of organizing a jumble sale for the poor. The lyrics suggest that such actions are pointless because they do not address the root causes of poverty and inequality, and that shaking a box in front of the Queen would be just as effective.
The lyrics of "Change the World" could be interpreted as a critique of well-meaning but ultimately ineffective activism that fails to challenge the structures of power that perpetuate social and economic injustice. The song seems to be saying that real change requires a more radical and transformative approach, and that simply trying to address the symptoms of systemic issues is not enough. The line "It's a wasted time if you know what I mean" is repeated throughout the song, emphasizing the sense of futility and hopelessness that can come from trying to change the world without a clear plan or vision.
