1. Dio was an American heavy metal band formed in 1982 and led by vocalist Ronnie James Dio. Dio left Black Sabbath with intentions to form a new band with fellow former Black Sabbath drummer Vinny Appice. The name Dio was chosen because it made sense from a commercial standpoint, as the name was already well known at that time. The band released ten studio albums and had numerous lineup changes over the years, with Dio himself being the only constant member. Guitarists included Vivian Campbell, Craig Goldy, Doug Aldrich, Warren DeMartini, Tracy G, Jake E. Lee and Rowan Robertson. The band dissolved in 2010 when Ronnie James Dio died of stomach cancer at the age of 67. Dio has sold more than 20 million albums worldwide.

End Of The World
Dio Lyrics

Then somehow I'd see
Why everything's wrong
Or maybe it's just me
Does anybody know this place that I'm in
Why I might be alone
Imagination is a terrible thing
What if I'm wrong
It must be the end of the world
What ever happened to the rock and roll song
Breaking your brain
Making you stronger
They say you never hear the bullet that kills
And I don't hear a sound
It's not about a change or revolution
What's gone today is still called substitution
Don't get emotional but we're out of time
The melody's gone
And fools have got the sunshine
If I'm mistaken and I see you again
Don't leave me alone
Maybe tomorrow
Could be the end of the world
Don't make wishes
Don't waste time
Call the ones you hate
You'd say I'm sorry but they'll have to wait
Fot the end of the world
Bye bye bye bye bye bye
In "End of the World," Dio is facing a personal crisis and questions whether he is responsible for the chaos in the world or if it's just a universal problem. He's looking for answers, but doesn't find them, so he comes to the conclusion that it may just be the end of the world. The rock and roll sound he loved has disappeared, and there's a sense of urgency to take action because time is running out.
The opening verse sets the tone for the song as it emphasizes the character's feeling of isolation and uncertainty. He wishes he could sleep because he's anxious about why everything appears to be wrong. He wonders if it's just his perception or if it's what's really happening. He then, as an artist, considers imagination as a tool that influences perception, thus, he wonders if he's wrong or right. As the song progresses, he begins to ask philosophical questions about reality, such as “what ever happened to rock and roll?” and why there are no more songs that "break your brain, making you stronger."
“End of the World” tells a universal story about the current state of society and the world, which had been gradually getting worse, while the moral values that held it together are quickly fading, leading to a near collapse of the entire system. Dio calls us to take action by accepting the present moment, making peace with loved ones, and not wasting any more time because tomorrow may never come.
Line by Line Meaning
If I could sleep at night
If only I could find peace in my thoughts
Then somehow I'd see
Maybe then, I would have clarity of what's happening around me
Why everything's wrong
I am struggling to understand why everything has turned out to be so negative
Or maybe it's just me
Maybe the problem is within me
Does anybody know this place that I'm in
Is anyone aware of the situation I find myself stuck in?
Why I might be alone
I am wondering about the reason behind my solitude
Imagination is a terrible thing
Being lost in thoughts can be dangerous
What if I'm wrong
What if I have misunderstood everything
But here's what I've been thinking
These are my thoughts regarding the situation
It must be the end of the world
Everything feels like it's falling apart and that the world is coming to an end
What ever happened to the rock and roll song
The music that once lifted us up is nowhere to be found
Breaking your brain
Challenging our minds to think
Making you stronger
The struggles we face can make us stronger
They say you never hear the bullet that kills
Death can come without warning
And I don't hear a sound
There's nothing to hear or to see of what's coming next
It's not about a change or revolution
It's not about making things better anymore
What's gone today is still called substitution
What we have now is a substandard version of what we used to have
Don't get emotional but we're out of time
It's not the time to let emotions cloud our judgment
The melody's gone
The things that kept us going are no more
And fools have got the sunshine
Things aren't going well for the wise ones, only the fools are enjoying the moment
If I'm mistaken and I see you again
If I'm wrong about everything and I happen to see you again
Don't leave me alone
Please don't abandon me in my time of need
Maybe tomorrow
Maybe tomorrow things will be different
Could be the end of the world
Tomorrow could mark the end of everything
Don't make wishes
Stop hoping for miracles
Don't waste time
Stop using your time unproductively
Call the ones you hate
Try to mend your broken relationships with the people you dislike
You'd say I'm sorry but they'll have to wait
Apologize to them but know that they may not be ready to forgive
For the end of the world
Do it now instead of waiting for a catastrophic event
Bye bye bye bye bye bye
It could be the last time we say goodbye
