Whether blue or gray be her skies
Whether loud be her cheers or whether soft be her tears
More and more do I realize
That I love Paris in the spring time
I love Paris in the fall
I love Paris in the winter when it drizzles
I love Paris every moment
Every moment of the year
I love Paris, why oh, why do I love Paris?
Because my love is near
I love Paris in the spring time
I love Paris in the fall
I love Paris in the winter when it drizzles
I love Paris in the summer when it sizzles
I love Paris every moment
Every moment of the year
I love Paris, why oh, why do I love Paris?
Because my love is near
Dionne Warwick's song "I Love Paris" is a timeless ode to the romantic and beguiling French capital. The opening lines of the song "Every time I look down on this timeless town, whether blue or gray be her skies, whether loud be her cheers or whether soft be her tears, more and more do I realize" captures the essence of the city's enduring allure - its vibrancy, diversity, and resilience. The singer professes her love for Paris in all seasons, from the alluring springtime to the sizzling summer days, from the chilly winter drizzles to the autumnal splendor.
The song's repeated emphasis on the singer's love for Paris reflects a deeper emotional connection that transcends physical beauty or temporal elegance. She loves Paris "every moment of the year" because "my love is near." The lyricist's repeated use of the phrase "I love Paris" also evokes a sense of nostalgia and longing, as though the singer is reminiscing about a past love or longing for a future rendezvous. Overall, the song is a poignant reminder that Paris is not just a city, but a state of mind, a feeling, and a memory that endures despite the shifting seasons and the changing times.

Every time I look down on this timeless town
Whenever I gaze upon Paris, a city with an enduring spirit,
Whether blue or gray be her skies
No matter if her skies are blue or gray,
Whether loud be her cheers or whether soft be her tears
Whether Parisians are boisterous or somber,
More and more do I realize
I come to understand more deeply,
That I love Paris in the spring time
That I have a deep affection for Paris in the season of renewal,
I love Paris in the fall
As well as in the autumn,
I love Paris in the winter when it drizzles
I embrace Paris even in the winter, when it rains,
I love Paris in the summer when it sizzles
And in the summer, when the heat is intense,
I love Paris every moment
I cherish every instant spent in Paris,
Every moment of the year
Throughout every season,
I love Paris, why oh, why do I love Paris?
But why, you may ask, do I love Paris?
Because my love is near
It's because the object of my affection is close by.
