When nobody needs me
My heart wants to know
And so I must go
Where destiny leads me
With no star to guide me
And no one beside me
And, after the day
The darkness will hide me
And maybe tomorrow
I'll find what I'm after
I'll throw off my sorrow
Beg, steal, or borrow
My share of laughter
With you I could learn to
With you what a new day
But who can I turn to
If you turn away
With you I could learn to
With you what a new day
But who can I turn to
If you turn away
The lyrics of "Who Can I Turn To" by Dionne Warwick contemplate a sense of loneliness and abandonment. The singer is feeling lost and vulnerable, wondering who she can count on when no one is there for her. She is aware that she needs to find her own path and follow her destiny, but she is also aware of how difficult this can be when she has no one to guide her or support her. She acknowledges that she may have to face some darkness and uncertainty alone, but she holds onto the hope that tomorrow will bring light and happiness.
In the second verse, Warwick speaks about a person who could potentially provide her with a sense of security and companionship. She says that this person would help her feel renewed and optimistic about life, but she is aware that they may eventually leave her as well. It is a bittersweet confession that emphasizes the fragility of human connections and the fear of being left alone.
Overall, "Who Can I Turn To" is a heart-wrenching plea for emotional support and understanding. The lyrics speak to the universal human experience of feeling abandoned, lost, and helpless. It is a reminder that we all need someone to turn to in times of need, and that it is okay to feel vulnerable and ask for help.

Who can I turn to
I am lost; I need someone to guide me through life
When nobody needs me
I feel unloved and worthless
My heart wants to know
I am seeking answers from within myself
And so I must go
I have to keep moving forward even if it's difficult
Where destiny leads me
I am trusting fate to take me where I need to go
With no star to guide me
I have no direction or guidance in my life
And no one beside me
I feel lonely and abandoned
I'll go on my way
I will continue my journey through life
And, after the day
Once the day is over
The darkness will hide me
I will find comfort in the darkness and solitude
And maybe tomorrow
Perhaps in the future
I'll find what I'm after
I will discover what I truly want from life
I'll throw off my sorrow
I will let go of my pain and sadness
Beg, steal, or borrow
I will do whatever it takes
My share of laughter
To find happiness and joy in life
With you I could learn to
I believe that with your help, I could learn to
With you what a new day
Together, we could experience new, brighter beginnings
But who can I turn to
But if you aren't there for me
If you turn away
If you refuse to help or support me
