1) Diorama is a darkwave band founded in 1996 in Reutlingen, Germany by Torben Wendt. His music was soon recognized by Adrian Hates of Diary of Dreams, so with his support and the support of Rainer Assmann (Daf/ Fad Gadget), a debut-album “Pale” was released in 1999. It was received very well both by the critics and the audience.
In 2000 Torben’s friend Felix Marc joined Diorama as a keyboard player, co-producer and backing vocalist. The second album “Her Liquid Arms” was released in April 2001. Despite its stronger rhythms and more forceful electronic sounds, the music preserved its distinctive atmosphere, established with the first album. The song “Advance” became one of the leading club hits and the band was becoming increasingly popular. The second album was followed by club-oriented single “Device” (December 2001).
Bassist Bernard Le Sigue joined the band the following year, and together with Torben and Felix saw the release of the third album, named “The Art of Creating Confusing Spirits”, the album was released in October 2002. During November and December of the same year, Diorama supported Diary of Dreams on tour.
After a long break and another addition to the band’s line-up (guitar player Sash Fiddler joining in 2003), the long-awaited fourth album "Amaroid" was released in April 2005. For the promotion of the new album, the band joined VNV Nation, on their “Formation” tour. In October 2005, Diorama released two more albums: A re-release of their first album “Pale”, with three new songs (“Don’t Be There”, “You and Ice” and “Crop of Illusions”); and “Re-Pale” – a collection of new versions of earlier songs, remixes and some previously unreleased songs. At the same time, the band went on their first headline tour throughout Germany.
At the end of 2006, Bernard Le Sigue left the band. On the 23rd of February 2007, a new single was released: “Synthesize Me”, a prelude for the next album, which was released 4 weeks later. “A Different Life” can be characterized as a criticism of the society ruled by artificial, deviant system of values. With his lyrics, Torben portrayed the revolt of the individual against the imposed principles and general degradation of true values and virtues.
"Cubed" is their seventh studio album, released on 19th March 2010. The figurative picture of a cube is the guiding theme of the album - a confined area serving as a living space be it as a stage, as a prison or as a shelter. This concept consequently features throughout the band's artwork and stage setting.
2) Diorama is an Italian folk rock band formed in 2003 by Antonella Colucci, Richard Rhodes and Alexander Sgura. Over the years the line-up has been slightly changed, and so far the band has released three albums. More information can be found on their website: http://www.dioramamusica.it
3) Diorama is a post-rock / math rock band from Peru, formed in 2011. The band invents post-jamming psychedelic landscapes with a math rock feel, very chill and very textured. Synthesize Me
Diorama Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
synthesize me
make me your love and hate machine
and i can serve you better
start the true
emotion scheme
till i'm no longer forced
synthesize me
and reboot
i need to start again
i need to make it different
all unguarded
all without
the will to play along
benumb its futile feelers
synthesize me
wash away
the trash i'm piling up
to mesmerize the moments
i'll drop the needle
my settings work
no stunted interactions
no doubts no paranoia
i'm half-alive
my skin is intact
i'm only staring at the blade
i'm half-alive
my skin is intact
i'm only staring at the blade
In this song, Diorama sings about the desire to be transformed, or synthesized, into a machine-like entity that can better serve its lover. The lyrics suggest the singer is willing to subjugate their emotions and will in order to be more useful and efficient. The phrase "love and hate machine" reinforces the idea that the singer sees themselves as a tool to be used for their lover's own ends, regardless of whether those ends are positive or negative. The lines "till i'm no longer forced / to keep my vital functions" could be interpreted to mean that the singer is tired of struggling to maintain their humanity and independence, and would prefer to be stripped of those qualities entirely.
As the song progresses, the singer continues to express a desire to be transformed, becoming "unguarded" and devoid of the "futile feelers" that make them vulnerable to doubt and insecurity. The repeated phrase "synthesize me" takes on a sense of urgency, suggesting that the singer is desperate for change and is willing to undergo any transformation that will relieve them of their emotional burdens. The final lines of the song, "i'm half-alive / my skin is intact / i'm only staring at the blade," bring a sense of darkness and danger to the lyrics, leaving the listener to wonder what the singer may be contemplating or planning.
Overall, "Synthesize Me" is a provocative exploration of the tension between human emotion and mechanical efficiency, and the potentially dangerous consequences of blurring the boundary between the two.

Pure darkwave sound, great vocals, amazing lyrics.
Diorama is one of the best bands of the kind out there.
It wasn't by luck or chance that their talent was recognised from Adrian Hates (Diary Of Dreams).
Respect!
