The Cisco Kid was a friend of mine
The Cisco Kid was a friend of mine
He drink whiskey, Poncho drink the wine
He drink whiskey, Poncho drink the wine

We met down on the fort of Rio Grande
We met down on the fort of Rio Grande
Eat the salted peanuts out of can
Eat the salted peanuts out the can

The outlaws had us pinned down at the fort
The outlaws had us pinned down at the fort
Cisco came in blastin', drinkin' port
Cisco came in blastin', drinkin' port

They rode the sunset, horse was made of steel
They rode the sunset, horse was made of steel
Chased a gringo last night through a field
Chased a gringo last night through a field

Cisco Kid was a friend of mine
The Cisco Kid, he was a friend of mine
Cisco Kid was a friend of mine
The Cisco Kid was a friend of mine

Cisco Kid was a friend of mine
The Cisco Kid, he was a friend of mine
The Cisco Kid was a friend of mine
The Cisco Kid was a friend of mine

Cisco Kid, he was a friend of mine

The Cisco Kid, he was a friend of mine
The Cisco Kid, he was a friend of mine

Overall Meaning

Discharge's song "Dooms Day" is a tribute to the classic western television series "The Cisco Kid" that aired from 1950-56. The lyrics are a simple retelling of some of the adventures of the eponymous hero and his sidekick Pancho. The Cisco Kid was celebrated as a hero and legend throughout the American South West, and his exploits took him from one end of the country to the other.

The lyrics of the song are evocative of the strange and remote landscapes of the American West. They speak to the eerie loneliness and isolation that can be felt in the out-of-the-way places where the fight between the forces of law and order and the outlaws who refused to respect the law is carried on. The tune has a classic rock feel to it that is reminiscent of the 1970s and the greats of the genre. The lyrics are delivered in a way that is unique to the punk rock style, with a raw edge and a percussive beat that drives the story of the Cisco Kid and his partner forward.

In conclusion, the song "Dooms Day" is a great tribute to the classic western hero, the Cisco Kid. The lyrics are simple and straightforward, yet they capture the sense of adventure and danger that characterized the era of the Wild West.

And now the end
The end is near
It's time to say our last Goodbye's

Doomsday, doomsday
It's doomsday, doomsday

Is it reality
Or just a nightmare
Nightmare, nightmare
Nowhere to run
Nowhere to hide
No escape, no escape
Is it reality
Or just a nightmare
Nightmare, nightmare

Yo, this song was NEVER released on WHY? ever, except as a bonus by money mongering labels. It was first released on Never Again, then State Violence, State Control. At some point in the late 80s it was added as a bonus to a bogus release of HNSNSN when it was released as a CD.

Derek Dykeman
