For guys so young Disclosure's understanding of what 'pure' dance music is amazes me. They take so much of everything that is good about House and Garage that was being released way, way before they were probably even born. Use of strings, kick drums, snares, filters etc. They have tapped into the magic formula and produce such great tunes time and time again. Massively impressive tune from the boys again. They never disappoint.

Adr Adr Go to traxsource look under house, soulful house and Deep house. search around you will hear the real deal. Disclosure are excellent at what they do and they do great work when it comes to pop and mainstream dance but the real high quality house music is a whole new ball game. you probably might want to check out Sean Macabe, Detriot swindle, Intr0beatz, Rhemi Music, Full Intention there are tons of great producers. Also on traxsource they have a lots of DJ top tens.

I classify Disclosure as basic house when I make this statement, anything that has a slower beat and darker sound, I would classify as Deep House, which I am aware this is not. Commercial Dance would consist of Calvin Harris type music.
I also am well aware of the likes of Detroit Swindle, Rick Wade, Mateo & Matos, Timewriter etc. Disclosure would, imo, be up there on a pedestal with talented house composers, just because they are more recent doesn't mean the quality isn't there. Their sound has elements of house moreso than other similar artists.

There are rules to it. in order to understand it you have to go back to the roots and origins of house music. its either real house or its not. everything else it is an attempt. if is doesnt have real soul it is not house. Trust me disclosure would not get played in a real house club they just dont have the quality. the true house music producers and artists are on the underground. trust me thier music is not house. If you are saying they are you just simply do not understand a true house music sound and the various genres. I dj and when I say I play house people say "oh you must play disclosure" and I say no then they say they dont understand so I play them real house music production and then they get it the quality is worlds apart, You cant compare disclosure to a terry hunter, spen, jovonn, demarkus lewis, reelsoul or the true masters of the craft. they have zero soul

What I should have said was I'm mainly going by the genres that are on the albums I download, I listen to a lot of Deep House so anything that sounds a bit more progressive in its tempo and overall composition, I'm just gonna label it regular house, or progressive house. When I see the latest MOS: Deep House album, I think to myself, 'There's no way Duke Dumont is a deep house artist. It seems like the genre definitions are being confused and conflated with each other lately because the record labels are lazy and don't want ot file everything under Dance.
I wouldn't be sure what category to put them in tbh, their sound comes across a bit like house to me is all.
I will look up those artists since I'm not familiar with them, thanks.

BlueChaos100 well thats the issue the record labels particularly the major record labels dont have a clue and neither do many of the download sites they call anything house to make money and its disrespctful. Even disclosure should be honest ive heard them in interviews claim that they have done chicago house on thier tracks and nothing could be further from the truth. Dont get ,me wrong I liek thier work but its geenric pop with no skills or real soul. its just not fair on the guys that are the real deal and have spent 15/20 years perfecting the craft then these guys try to emulate the work dont come up to scratch but try to take the glory. A credible download site is traxsource. These guys really know house music and the various genres.
