Monti is generally considered to be the first disco artist to cross into the mainstream. In February 1975, Monti released Disco Tex and His Sex-O-Lettes, an LP of disco songs and collaboration with producer Bob Crewe and featuring musician Jerry Corbetta of Sugarloaf. Two of the album's tracks, "Get Dancin'" and "I Wanna Dance Wit' Choo (Doo Dat Dance)", became instant staples at burgeoning New York dance clubs including Studio 54. By the end of the 70s, disco music was fully mainstream, and Monti appeared in the movie Saturday Night Fever as the DJ.
He currently resides and performs in Las Vegas.

The lyrics of "I Wanna Dance Wit' Choo" by Disco Tex and His Sex-O-Lettes is a call to action to get people to dance. It's showtime and the disco era has arrived. The singer invites everyone to dance with him and his band, The Jam Band. The lyrics are filled with dance moves such as the diggy doo, chugalug and jitterbug. The singer wants to dance with the listener, rock and roll with them and have a ball. The song encourages everyone to let loose, groove to the music and have fun on the dance floor.
The song is a reflection of the disco era of the 1970s when discotheques were packed with people getting their groove on. Disco dancing was characterized by athletic and elaborate dance moves which were displayed in clubs and on television shows like "Soul Train." It was a time when people dressed up in flashy, sequined outfits to dance the night away. The song captures the essence of this era with catchy lyrics and upbeat music.

I was six when my big sister played this record, and from memory, have sung parts of the song for 36 years. First time hearing it since, and it came back as if it were yesterday. You made my year. Thanks!

The greatest disco hit of 1975!!!
@ClassicTV4U
This song entered the Billboard® Hot 100™ on 04/19/75 at number 86, then climbed as follows: 76, 58, 47, 39, 34, 28, 24, 23...then two weeks at number 45 before falling off the chart on 07/05/75..so remember: Disco Tex and the Sex-O-Lettes were NOT a one hit wonder...they basically helped to create what went on to be called "Disco".
