Unfortunately, the remake version is literally only less than one minute long and hardly any of it is actually sung. It's too bad, because Chiwitel Ejiofor actually sounded great in it, but they cut the song down to almost nothing.

I had to pause the movie and listen to the original, it was so bad. In my opinion, that was the absolute worst part of the movie. I was really looking forward to it, and Disney slapped me in the face.

Agreed! It was really odd to have talking, singing animals without any expressions. Scar was delightfully over the top villainous in the original, whereas in the 2019 version he's just plain disturbing. Plus Disney weakened one of the best songs in the film. This movie didn't need to be remade any more than Dumbo needed to be.

This reminds me of a pirate or adventure film in some ways. Particularly near the beginning. I think in the remake they could have used the tune like this and just replaced the first verse from the original with the remake first verse (because it is more persuading the hyenas rather than insulting them)

Yes it really was too short and had no real climax. The melody of the original be prepared sounds a little too wacky too fit into the serious atmosphere if the remake but the new version could at least have more power. I think they didn't achieve the full potential it might have had in the remake. I'm personally not too certain how it should be executed in the best way

Yeah the tempo is definitely too fast, and the way Chiwetel sings the lyrics wouldn't match with how the music is arranged here. I wish there was some way to blend the two together, I like the idea behind the new 'Be Prepared' as a political speech with Scar manipulating the hyenas right there in real time, but it escalates too quickly and doesn't escalate enough

Lion King 3: Scar Face
The noxious green fumes constantly breathed by Scar and his hyena legion at their lair were an unnatural compound released after years of geothermal mixture and pressure. He was no longer alive... but not quite dead. As he awoken came to realize what he had became, and attempted to replicate this phenomenon. Unfortunately for the kingdom, he succeeded. While the lions and other creatures went about their trivial lives, Scar gathered the remnants of the hyena clans and twisted them in these fumes. He is preparing... for war.

I actually really liked the 2019 Be Prepared in it's own right. If the overall movie wasn't a shot for shot remake and tried to be its own movie, this just would've fit right in. I felt this sort of 20s-30s fascistic vibe to this song near the end, and you could make so many "topical" comments on politics today or whatever analysis you want to give it. Take the whole marching of hyenas the cartoon did and make it real, like Scar is rallying up and really getting them going, of course though each party cares about different things: Scar is about power and hyenas are about promises of constant food supply and living comfortably. The whole movie can still have the same premise like they did with the Jungle Book remake but you can add darker tones like the 1994 version hinted at so many times. I think the approach in this remake to go full real was cool and all but they needed to loosen them up, it all just felt stiff and when they start singing it just hits the uncanny valley for me. The only time it worked was, again, Be Prepared because it's kind of like slam poetry and transitions into song nicely and almost powerfully like it would be on broadway or something. But then it was like 2 minutes long so what the hell... and I gotta say as much as I love James Earl Jones and as iconic as his voice is now I guess and was in 20th century culture blah blah he just kind of sounded worn-out and tired, his voice didn't really have an impact but you didn't question it because you can still hear hints of his voice when he was at his prime. To be fair though I couldn't even begin to think who could replace him as Mufasa.
