Lust
Dissonant Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Poets wrote about it, love is strange without it
You know it, you feel it, you breathe it
The rain has come to wash the filth you've left behind
It's just deceiving, source of all believing
Raging in you, rusting with you
Life had become dependent on nothing but shit

When you come and visit
Don't forget to bring it
Hugh amount of sorrow
Drain your heart and swallow
Life has just maintain
Wish you had your pain
Rust has start to spread
Lust will drive you mad

War has come to teach us, give some sense to wake us
Merging-Spinning-Falling
In a vortex of sins, grief, hate and learning to
Die without crying, live without lying
Can you feel it growing in you burning us all
The true essence of what we fear

When you come and visit
Don't forget to bring it
Hugh amount of sorrow
Drain your heart and swallow
Life has just maintain
Wish you had your pain
Rust has start to spread
Lust will drive you mad

So you think you have fulfilled
All the life you've just built
Your true self is standing tall
Your kingdom began to crawl
In this place you force feed lies
Your reality cost lives
We are lost without a guide
Your kingdom name is human kind

Life had become just too much for us to bare
Can't believe our own lake of despair

I can't believe what I see in my eyes
Everything in front of me dies

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Dissonant's song Lust talks about the different aspects of life that make it strange and difficult to navigate. The first stanza starts with the acknowledgment that poets have attempted to write about love, but it remains a mysterious and complicated emotion. The rain is referred to as a symbol of cleansing, which tries to wash away the filth that people have left behind, but it's all an illusion which contributes to the source of all believing. Life becomes dependent on nothing but a pile of crap, and it begins to rust and rage in you.

The second stanza addresses the chaos that is happening in the world. War has come to try and teach us and provide some sense to wake us up. In a vortex of sins, grief, hate and learning to die without crying, live without lying, the true essence of what we fear is growing within us, burning us alive. Love has become too much to bear, and there's a lack of belief and hope.

The chorus of the song 'When you come and visit, don't forget to bring it, Hugh amount of sorrow, Drain your heart and swallow, Life has just maintained, Wish you had your pain, Rust has started to spread, Lust will drive you mad,' reinforces that message that despite love and hopelessness, lust remains the one thing that is constant.
