Burning Heaven
Distorted Memory Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Heaven
heaven
heaven
heaven

It's burning down
the war it rages
ashes fall
who will save us

It's falling down
from the sky
a sky that's red
and slowly dies

It's red
it burns
it falls
to earth, up

Above a
a blood stained sky
demons rage
while angels die

We must fight
choose our side
if want to
survive

Heaven is burning
it's burning us all
a sky full of ashes will cover us all

Angels in heaven are fighting their war
they want to take the things that we live for
angels in heaven are spilling their blood
they have lost sight of their beauty and love

Angels in heaven
heaven
heaven
heaven

Heaven is burning
it's burning us all
a sky full of ashes will cover us all

Heaven is burning
heaven
heaven
heaven is burning
it's burning us all

Heaven
heaven
heaven
heaven

Angels in heaven are fighting their war
they want to take the things that we live for
angels in heaven are spilling their blood
they have lost sight of their beauty and love

Angels in heaven
heaven
heaven
heaven

Heaven is burning
heaven
heaven

heaven is burning
it's burning us all

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Distorted Memory's song "Burning Heaven" convey a bleak and ominous picture of the once-beautiful haven of heaven being consumed by flames of war and violence. The opening lines of "Heaven, heaven, heaven" create a haunting repetition, while the following line "It's burning down, the war it rages" conveys the sense of urgency and horror. The idea that even angels are part of the violent conflict is conveyed in "demons rage while angels die." The lyric "we must choose our side if we want to survive" suggests that our individual allegiances are essential for our survival in this apocalyptic world.

The phrases "a sky that's red and slowly dies" and "a blood-stained sky" add an element of vivid and gory imagery to the song, bringing out the anguish and despair of the situation. The chorus, with its repetition of "heaven is burning" and "angels in heaven," emphasizes the devastation and hopelessness of the situation, making it clear that this conflict involves not only earthly beings, but also those of a higher realm. Even the idea that heaven falls to earth and ends up covered in ashes is highly evocative and emphasizes the destructive nature of the conflict depicted in the song.

song structure wise the whole album is one of the best harsh electro albums, because they always avoid the 3rd chorus even if the songs are very long. Don't know why many of those bands always follow very predictable pattern, it's just lazy and tiresome. But at least after some time I discovered many well structured harsh electro albums.

Of course atmosphere wise there are many better albums in this genre than Burning Heaven but it's still a very good album.
