Excellent documentary. More people need to know about Father Divine. His estate in Gladwyne is absolutely beautiful and if given the opportunity visitors should check it out...

Actually a fascinating documentary. However, it is one-sided. I think "Father's" impact on Civil Rights was very limited at best simply because he lacked any mainstream credibility at all. While there's no doubt that FD was a greedy, attention-seeking, cult-leading con man that may have had some benevolence towards his supporters the truest words in this whole program were the he did indeed give some of his followers hope at a time when there wasn't much hope, but that's just about it besides perhaps a sense of belonging and community. It's also amazing to see the what a lifetime of brainwashing inside a mind-controlling cult can do to someone. This documentary really fails to explore who Father Divine/George Baker was. It will be interesting to see what happens to the properties and money once that last of the Peace Mission Followers pass away which will undoubtedly be soon.

Woodmont is still open to the public on Sunday afternoons, from April to October. The guided tours are free of charge. There are followers still living.
Who controls the finances? It must be millions? No one seems to know or care!
Woodmont is listed on the National Historic Landmarks of Pennsylvania and also the
National Register of Historic Places listings in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.
Is there a law firm which manages the finances (the corporation) and the estate? If so, this place may one day lay dormant for decades. Who knows? They may have plans for upkeep on the property by contractors. Again, no one has come forward.

I wonder why Father Divine's first wife didn't get as much recognition? She was buried in a pauper's grave, while the other one was buried on the estate. Timing I suppose 🤷🏾‍♀️

One of the stories is, she disappeared sometime @ 1941, F.Divine didn't even announce her death. Once one of his followers dies,
they are cremated and never spoken of again. I wonder what GOD'S judgement for him was like.M

If he didn’t declare himself to be God, if he didn’t have such a system of control over his followers, if he didn’t live like a king, he could have been a great Christian leader, a real hero, one who truly did a great ministry.
Todays Word of Faith tv preachers and mega church leaders don’t do any of these benevolent works, they just take millions for themselves!

Why is rising people from the dead a bar for godliness? There are many gods who have never been reported as doing that. And on a practical note, the chaos that would cause is immeasurable
