A rash of personal tragedies stripped away layers of angst and became an unexpected source of inspiration. Singer and guitarist Mick Leonardy explains: "I got to touch on more serious areas of my life such as a death in the family on the song 'Sky', and a close friend's struggle with substance abuse on 'William.'" Broadcaster, Divit's Nitro debut, isn't all down in the mouth however. A wall of guitars opens the album on "Driver." "It's a fantasized perspective on a Bonnie and Clyde style road trip," says Leonardy, "and there's a bit of boy-meets-girl humor on 'The One That's In The Green Shirt.'" While people often use a cross pollination of bands to describe Divit's sound, usually involving some sort of hybrid between Jawbreaker, Foo Fighters, and Jimmy Eat World, there is never one band or title that can be slapped on the band as a description. But then again the bands that created the variations of the "East Bay Sound" have always eluded simple pigeonholing. One of the very few bands who can consistently pack the seeming epicenter of the East Bay, Gilman Street, Divit plans to broadcast their sound well beyond their hometown. The members of Divit are four ordinary guys with an extraordinary gift of writing and performing exceptional music. They have traded in almost all other aspects of their lives to pursue their true fix of happiness and have expanded the boundaries of the Nitro realm with their perfect blend of pop and punk sensibilities.
Catch Me If You Can
Divit Lyrics

You tried to disown the questions that lie
You liked how it felt and you thought you could drive
All on your own on this dotted line
I'll bring in what it takes to make the colors thin
I'm screaming all the way catch me if you can
Got a bottle of hope and you thought you could drown
Got away from yourself and you thought you could smile
But the face that you made just sharpened the knife
The lyrics of Catch Me If You Can by Divit are about the consequences of being reckless and taking impulsive decisions. The song starts off by describing someone who got ahead of themselves and thought they could fly, trying to avoid the questions that they knew would come up. The person liked the feeling of being in control and thought they could handle everything on their own, even as they walked on this dotted line. However, the lyrics take a turn when the singer becomes aware of the situation and is now trying to fix it by bringing in what it takes to make the colors thin. The lines "I'm screaming all the way catch me if you can" can be interpreted as a plea for help, as someone who has realized what they've done wrong and is now trying to be caught before things get out of hand.
The second verse continues along the same lines, with the person trying to drown the memories they hate, but only making things worse by burying them deep inside. They tried to escape from themselves and smile, but the reflection they saw sharpened the knife that they were carrying. The lyrics describe the self-destructive behavior that we often indulge in while trying to escape reality. The line "But the face that you made just sharpened the knife" can be interpreted as a metaphor for the way we often become our own worst enemies by doing things that are harmful to us.
In conclusion, Catch Me If You Can is a song about the dangers of acting on impulse and the consequences that such actions can have on our lives. It's a reminder to be mindful of our decisions and to take responsibility for our actions, instead of trying to escape from the problems that we create.
