The trio is currently ranked as the highest-selling female musical group in the USA, according to RIAA Gold & Platinum album certifications. As of 2012, The Chicks had won 13 Grammy Awards. While The Chicks continues, Maguire and Robison are writing and recording as Court Yard Hounds as of Feb 2010. The Dixie Chicks renamed the band in 2020 to The Chicks dropping Dixie from the official name as the name had the word 'Dixie' referencing the American Mason–Dixon line, which separated the free and slave-owning southern states.
Robin Lynn Macy was an original bandmember, as was Laura Lynch. Macy left the group in 1992, while Lynch was replaced by Natalie Maines in 1995.
The group aroused considerable controversy for publicly denouncing President George W. Bush and the imminent invasion of Iraq during the European leg of their Top of the World tour supporting Home. Many country music stations immediately pulled their music from the air, and the band received criticism from many corners of the media.
I'll Take Care of You

What can a working girl do
But struggle through another day
Then I'll take care of you
Nights are long and dreams are cold
If they're all you wake up to
But should you rise with crying eyes
So let them talk about us
Let them call us funny things
People sometimes do
I don't care as long
As you know I love you
Oh, and you know I do
I'll be there, but you might not see me
It's never easy to get through
But when the laughter dies away
I'll take care of you
So let them talk about us
Let them call us funny things
People sometimes do
I don't care as long
As you know I love you
Oh, and you know I do
I'll be there, but you might not see me
It's never easy to get through
But when the laughter dies away
I'll take care of you
Darling, I'll take care of you
The lyrics of The Dixie Chicks' song "I'll Take Care of You" reveal the story of a woman who is going through a difficult time in her life. She is struggling to survive on her own in a world where times are hard, rents are high, and dreams are cold. Despite her troubles, she finds comfort and support in the love of her partner. Through the highs and the lows, she knows that he will be there to take care of her.
The song paints a picture of a couple who faces challenges and ridicule from the world around them. They are not immune to the gossip and the harsh words of others, but instead of allowing it all to get to them, they stay strong in their love for each other. The woman sings about how she will always be there for her partner through thick and thin. She will be his support system when he needs her the most, and she will take care of him when he's feeling low.
The song is a beautiful reminder of the power of love and how it can help us get through even the toughest of times. Through its heartfelt lyrics and moving melody, it touches the hearts of anyone who has ever faced difficult times in their own lives and found comfort and strength in their relationships.

I once sang this song long distance to my husband when I had to go out of town on business (Only time I ever did anything like that in my life). The important part was when he became bedridden with dementia I was able to keep my promise to him. He stayed home with me for the rest of his life and I not only took care of him, I was able to cuddle him and sing to him all the time. It was his favorite thing even after he thought I was just "the nice man who takes care of him".
