The trio is currently ranked as the highest-selling female musical group in the USA, according to RIAA Gold & Platinum album certifications. As of 2012, The Chicks had won 13 Grammy Awards. While The Chicks continues, Maguire and Robison are writing and recording as Court Yard Hounds as of Feb 2010. The Dixie Chicks renamed the band in 2020 to The Chicks dropping Dixie from the official name as the name had the word 'Dixie' referencing the American Mason–Dixon line, which separated the free and slave-owning southern states.
Robin Lynn Macy was an original bandmember, as was Laura Lynch. Macy left the group in 1992, while Lynch was replaced by Natalie Maines in 1995.
The group aroused considerable controversy for publicly denouncing President George W. Bush and the imminent invasion of Iraq during the European leg of their Top of the World tour supporting Home. Many country music stations immediately pulled their music from the air, and the band received criticism from many corners of the media.

I know you send me, honest you do
Honest you do, honest you do
You thrill me, I know you thrill me
I know you thrill me, honest you do
Honest you do, honest you do
But now it's lasted so long and now
I find myself wanting to marry you
And take you home
Whoa, you send me, darlin', you send me
I know you send me, honest you do
Honest you do, honest you do
When at first it was infatuation
But now it's lasted so long and now
I find myself wanting to marry you
And take you home
You send me, you send me, you send me
Honest you do, you send me
The lyrics of Dixie Chicks's song You Send Me speak of the singer's overwhelming love and admiration for their significant other. The repetition of the phrase "darling, you send me" and "honest you do" show the depth of their emotions and sincerity. The singer explains how their love began as infatuation, but has now grown into something deeper and more long-lasting. The line "I find myself wanting to marry you and take you home" reveals a desire for permanence and commitment. The song's delivery is upbeat and jubilant, reflecting the joy that comes with being in love.
The song was originally written and recorded by Sam Cooke in 1957, where it became a massive success, reaching number one on the U.S. R&B chart and number six on the pop chart. The Dixie Chicks covered the song in 2002 for a tribute album to Cooke, called "Ain't That Good News: The Best of Sam Cooke."
