In Polish internet society this track is called 'pierdolnięcie', which means a big, powerful hit. It's taken its popularity and name from a comedy remake of movie about Adolf Hitler, where he's looking for a good party with electro music. Finally, he finds himself on a party where "Bonkers" is being played (it's wrongly taken as electro) and the beat of the music destroys a wall killing a lot of people. The party is called "The Last Boogie".
Dizzee teamed up with hot house music producer and remixer Armand Van Helden to bring us 'Bonkers', which bounced it's way to the top spot in May 2009, following up last summer's No.1 collaboration with Calvin Harris' 'Dance Wiv Me'.

Everythin' in my life ain't what it seems
I wake up just to go back to sleep
I act real shallow but I'm in too deep
And all I care about is sex and violence
A heavy bass line is my kind of silence
Everybody says that I gotta get a grip
Some people think I'm bonkers
But I just think I'm free
Man, I'm just livin' my life
There's nothin' crazy about me
Some people pay for thrills
But I get mine for free
Man, I'm just livin' my life
There's nothin' crazy about me
Bonkers
I wake up everyday it's a daydream
Everythin' in my life ain't what it seems
I wake up just to go back to sleep
I act real shallow but I'm in too deep
And all I care about is sex and violence
A heavy bass line is my kind of silence
Everybody says that I got to get a grip
But I let sanity give me the slip
Bonkers
Some people think I'm bonkers
But I just think I'm free
Man, I'm just livin' my life
There's nothin' crazy about me
Some people pay for thrills
But I get mine for free
Man, I'm just livin' my life
There's nothin' crazy about me
Mmm, yeah, I'm back in the floor now
I wake up everyday it's a daydream
Everythin' in my life ain't what it seems
I wake up just to go back to sleep
I act real shallow but I'm in too deep
And all I care about is sex and violence
A heavy bass line is my kind of silence
Everybody says that I got to get a grip
But I let sanity give me the slip
Bon, bon, bon, bon, bon, bon, bon, bon
Some people think I'm bonkers
But I just think I'm free
Man, I'm just livin' my life
There's nothin' crazy about me
Some people pay for thrills
But I get mine for free
Man, I'm just livin' my life
There's nothin' crazy about me
The lyrics to Dizzee Rascal's song "Bonkers" describe a character who is in a constant state of daydreaming, feeling that everything in his life is not as it seems. He admits to being shallow but acknowledges that he is in too deep. The character is driven by sex and violence and finds solace in heavy bass lines, which serve as his kind of silence. Those around him suggest he needs to get a handle on things, but he allows sanity to elude him.
Ultimately, the character believes that he is free and that nothing about him is crazy. He finds his thrills for free and wants to live his life as he sees fit. The listener might interpret this character as being young and reckless, pursuing his desires regardless of the consequences. However, it could also be a commentary on how society perceives those who prioritize their passions and impulses over responsibility and stability. Perhaps the character is not as "bonkers" as others think, but rather a product of a society that values conformity and stability above individual expression.
