Like the pine trees linin' the windin' road
I've got a name, I've got a name
Like the singin' bird and the croakin' toad
I've got a name, I've got a name
And I carry it with me like my daddy did
But I'm livin' the dream that he kept hid
Movin' me down the highway
Rollin' me down the highway
Movin' ahead so life won't pass me by
Like the north wind whistlin' down the sky
I've got a song, I've got a song
Like the whirlpool whirl and the baby's cry
I've got a song, I've got a song
And I carry it with me and I sing it loud
If it gets me nowhere, I'll go there proud
Movin' me down the highway
Rollin' me down the highway
Movin' ahead so life won't pass me by
And I'm gonna go there free
Like the fool I am and I'll always be
I've got a dream, I've got a dream
They can change their minds but they can't change me
I've got a dream, I've got a dream
Oh, I know I could share it if you'd want me too
If you're going my way, I'll go with you
Movin' me down the highway
Rollin' me down the highway
Movin' ahead so life won't pass me by
Movin' me down the highway
Rollin' me down the highway
Movin' ahead so life won't pass me by

Tarantino always choses excellent music for his movies, but this movie in particular has such perfect music for every single scene.

Yeah

I wonder if Tarantino completely scrapped scene ideas because he couldn't get the license to use a song. No substitute would work, and would rather rewrite the whole section and find something else. Then again, if Tarantino is the one that's essentially knockin' on your door requesting a song, good chance a specific reason, and should let him. :P

gredangeo on the Pulp Fiction Collectors Edition he says he would not have filmed the Son of a Preacher Man scene if he hadn’t been able to get the song. Thank god he got it. One of my most favorite songs ever.

This might be the most "magical" moment in a Tarantino movie. I think the amount of emotion and heart in his movies is often undervalued, anyway, but this sequence is just so innocent and sincere in a very simple way. Rather beautiful contrast to the horrors to come.
Bryson Heath
Agustin Camejo Shultz even said he felt "vaguely responsible" for Django for giving him his freedom.

I absolutely agree. I love Tarantino films and have since the mid '90s. But this scene. That song. Those slight moments of emotion expressed with just a nod or expression. It's magic. I've watched this scene over and over again. It never gets old.
William Dmitriyevich
Agreed. This and the Un Monumento scene for me.
