Sim Ou Não
Djavan Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Na casa da solidão
Só pra saber
Se o que sofri
Dá pra beber
Outra paixão
Em mim
Do jeito
Que se inventou
Toda razão
Perde o seu fim
Se um coração
For o juiz
Vai redimir
O medo de amar
Saudade
Enquanto
O amor ferir
E o pranto
A dor sarar
Não digo não
Nem dou o sim
Deixo
O meu coração
Chorar por mim
The lyrics of "Sim Ou Não" by Djavan are about the complexities of love and the difficulties of moving on from heartbreak. The first stanza speaks of the need to confront the pain of past love and to see if it is possible to love again. The lyrics imply that the process of healing and moving on involve a trip to the “house of solitude” which may be a metaphor for confronting oneself and one’s emotions. The second stanza then describes how love works in mysterious ways, and defies logic and reason. The heart is depicted as the ultimate judge of love, and it has the power to overcome the fear of loving again. The chorus talks about the experience of heartbreak and nostalgia, and how tears can be shed for what has been lost. The song ends with a powerful and touching line - “I let my heart cry for me” - which suggests that the singer is not yet ready to fully engage with life and its challenges, but rather needs to surrender to the pain and let it out.
The themes of love, heartbreak, nostalgia, and the need for emotional healing in "Sim Ou Não" are universal and easily relatable. Djavan's lyrics are beautifully crafted and poetically profound, and his voice has a dreamy and sultry quality that perfectly captures the emotions of the song. Additionally, Djavan's use of the Portuguese language creates a unique and exotic vibe that adds to the song's appeal.
