I remember one time they played a basement show in New Brunswick at my house at 223 Livingston ave with Lord Sterling, Aviso'Hara(my band) and of one gregs band's (can't remember right now name but it was Spanish). Anyway, this was soon after Pierce moved into town, after deciding that the Battle of bands award was the kiss of death, in 96' or so but anyways, I think it was their 5th drunken encore when they were playing a Motorhead head cover of 'ace of spades' or jailbate and then the cops came. Which I was surprised that the show had lasted this long but it did. Which is my general sentiment for punk rock of this high quality in general where it was always more about the rock, the energy and will to just let it rip. goodtimes.
Homeward Bound
Doc Hopper Lyrics

Got a ticket to my destination.
On a tour of one-night stands my suitcase and guitar in hand.
And ev'ry stop is neatly planned for a poet and a one-man band.
Homeward bound,
I wish I was,
Homeward bound,
Home where my thought's escaping,
Home where my love lies waiting
Silently for me.
Ev'ry day's an endless stream
Of cigarettes and magazines.
And each town looks the same to me, the movies and the factories
And ev'ry stranger's face I see reminds me that I long to be,
Homeward bound,
I wish I was,
Homeward bound,
Home where my thought's escaping,
Home where my music's playing,
Home where my love lies waiting
Silently for me.
Tonight I'll sing my songs again,
I'll play the game and pretend.
But all my words come back to me in shades of mediocrity
Like emptiness in harmony I need someone to comfort me.
Homeward bound,
I wish I was,
Homeward bound,
Home where my thought's escaping,
Home where my music's playing,
Home where my love lies waiting
Silently for me.
Silently for me.
The lyrics to Doc Hopper's song Homeward Bound describe the feeling of being stuck in a never-ending cycle of touring and performing, while yearning for the comfort and familiarity of home. The singer is sitting in a train station with a ticket to their destination, but they long to be homeward bound, where their thoughts are free, their music is playing, and their love is waiting silently for them. The singer is on a tour of one-night stands, hauling their suitcase and guitar with them to every new town. This cycle has become monotonous, and the singer longs to escape the endless stream of cigarettes and magazines, to be embraced by the familiar comforts of home.
The singer's attempts to entertain and perform have grown tiresome, and their words come back to them in shades of mediocrity, reminding them of their deep-seated need for companionship and comfort. The singer recognizes the emptiness of their current lifestyle, and longs to find someone to comfort them. The repetition of the chorus, "Homeward bound,' I wish I was," reflects the singer's deep longing for the familiarity and comfort of their true home.
Overall, the lyrics to Homeward Bound encapsulate the feeling of being lost and searching for direction, while simultaneously expressing a deep longing for home and the comfort it provides.
