Doces Bárbaros is also the name of the 1976 double album by the MPB group of the same name. It was recorded June 24 of that year at Anhembi Stadium in São Paulo, with the purpose of touring Brazil to celebrante ten years of success in their individual careers. The group was the subject of a 1977 documentary directed by Jom Tob Azulay. In 1994, they performed a tribute concert to Mangueira school of samba. Time passed and in 2002 the four artists from Bahia got together again for two performances in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. The historic reunion, recorded on Copacabana Beach and watched by 100,000 people, was transformed into a documentary film, entitled Outros (Doces) Bárbaros, directed by Andrucha Waddington.
The 1976 album was listed by Rolling Stone Brazil as one of the 100 best Brazilian albums in history.

Nem gente, nem parafuso
O céu era então confuso
E não havia nada
Mas o espírito de tudo
Muando ainda não havia
Tomou forma de uma jia
E dando o primeiro pulo
Tornou-se o verso e reverso
De tudo que é universo
Dando o primeiro pulo
Assim que passou a haver
Tudo quanto não havia
Tempo, pedra, peixe, dia
Assim passou a haver
Dizem que existe uma tribo
De gente que sabe o modo
De ver esse fato todo
Diz que existe essa tribo
De gente que toma um vinho
Num determinado dia
E vê a cara da jia
Gente que toma um vinho
Dizem que existe essa gente
Dispersa entre os automóveis
Que torna os tempos imóveis
Diz que existe essa gente
Dizem que tudo é sagrado
Devem se adorar as jias
E as coisas que não são jias
Diz que tudo é sagrado
E não havia nada
Espírito de tudo
Dando o primeiro pulo
Assim passou a haver
Diz que existe essa tribo
Gente que toma um vinho
Diz que existe essa gente
Diz que tudo é sagrado
Dizem que tudo é sagrado
Devem se adorar as jias
E as coisas que não são jias
Diz que tudo é sagrado
E não havia nada
Espírito de tudo
Dando o primeiro pulo
Assim passou a haver
Diz que existe essa tribo
Gente que toma um vinho
Diz que existe essa gente
Diz que tudo é sagrado
The lyrics to Doces Bárbaros's song "Gênesis" speak of the creation of the universe and everything within it. The first stanza establishes that there was nothing at the beginning, no people and no screws. The sky was perplexed, and there was nothing. But then, the spirit of everything took form as a jewel, and it became the universe's first jump, the verse and reverse of everything.
As time passed, everything that did not exist before - time, rocks, fish, and day - came into being. The song alludes to a tribe of people who understand the creation of everything and worship the "jia," which could be interpreted as a precious stone or gem. They drink wine on a particular day and see the face of the jia, and they believe that everything is sacred, not just the jias.
The song suggests that even ordinary things are sacred and must be worshiped. The final stanza repeats the previous stanzas, emphasizing the idea that everything is sacred, and there was nothing at first, but with the first jump of the spirit of everything, everything came to be.
