They were the ninth most listened to 'new band' of 2008 on Last.fm and were included in the best alternative music list of 2008 on iTunes USA.
The band revealed the origins of their name as being from British sitcom The Office.
Synth Player Dan Coop, NME.com interview:
Everybody thinks the name is some kind of statement but it's a quote from David Brent in an episode of The Office. "When me and James Rushent first started writing music together we decided to put it up on MySpace. We needed a name to put as our profile name so just put what was the first thing that was said on TV, we switched it on and Ricky Gervais said "Does it offend you, yeah? My drinking?" so we just went with that. No thought went into it whatsoever.

The song "The Monkeys Are Coming" by Does It Offend You Yeah? is a fast-paced, energetic rock track that features a repeating chorus of "The funky monkeys is coming". The lyrics depict a sense of impending danger or conflict, with the "funky monkeys" representing some sort of unstoppable force that is coming to town.
The lyrics also suggest a sense of urgency and foreboding, with lines like "Fear more my friends" and "Well it's us or them". The mention of catching vapour and eating shit could be interpreted as a reference to drug use, and the overall attitude of the song could be seen as rebellious, confrontational, and even somewhat nihilistic.
Overall, the song seems to be an anthem of sorts for a generation or subculture that feels disenfranchised or marginalized, and that is looking for a way to assert itself and make an impact in the world.

My favorite way to listen to this song is to start playing the single version (which is a little longer than the album version) on Tidal (on my smartphone obv), then pause it and rewind it back to 0:00 , then bring up the original viral YouTube video that inspired this song and is heavily sampled throughout, then pause it and fast forward it to exactly 1:13 (the spot where the guy says "I feel you. I make movies....), then start playing the video from there, hit the home button on my phone so that the YouTube video shrinks to picture-in-picture mode, pull Tidal back up, listen to the entirety of the dude's fucking BONKERS AS SHIT rant; but just as he nears the end, I drag the little YouTube video window over to the spot on the screen that closes the picture-in-picture window, but DONT let go of it until the very SECOND that he finishes his rant (where he says "EAT OUR SHIT AND SUCK OUR DICK, YOU HO-ASS BITCHES" and walks off), and then after closing it I immediately press play on Tidal to begin the song, and listen to it as normal.
Which sounds convoluted as shit when I type it all out, but it really isn't. The reason I do it is because I've found that the original viral video is the PERFECT introduction to the song. Obviously, if I had the proper computer programs, I'd just download a .FLAC of the song, rip the necessary section of audio from the YouTube video, and then either splice them together into one single .FLAC file or just convert the video's audio into its own .FLAC/.mp3/.mp4 file, and edit their file information to put them in the same album together, with the video audio as a sort of "Track 0" and the song as "Track 1," so that the video's audio would function as an intro to the song without me having to always do all that stuff.
Anyway, I'm just commenting this to recommend y'all try it. Seriously, it's a great intro tbh. It just fits so well, probably because the song itself samples segments of his bonkers-ass crackhead rant. The video is titled something like "BIG BROTHA THUNDA BIG BOOTY WONDA AND THE MASTA BLASTA," which is one of the many memorable things he says throughout the video.
Other memorable lines being:
-"OKLAHOMA TEXAS, NEW YORK, CALIFORNIA, AROUND THE WORLD! IT'S GONNA BE A BIG NUT BUST! A PURPLE NUT! AND THE PURPLE PUN'KIN EATERS IS COMIN' TO EAT ALL YOU MOTHAFUCKAS, THE REAL MONSTERS!"
-("And the Purple Haze!")
-"NAW NAW. WE NOT SMOKIN Y'ALL PURPLE HAZE! WE EATIN' Y'ALL PURPLE HAZE, MOTHAFUCKA! AND ALL Y'ALL COCAINE ROCK SMOKERS! CUZ THERE'S A NEW ROCK HITTIN' THE STREETS! PURPLE ROCK COCAINE! AND IT'S NOT FOR SALE AND IT'S TAKIN' Y'ALL MOTHAFUCKIN' DOPE SMOKERS STRAIGHT TO THE MOON! KEKASAW VAPORS(?), YOU BITCHES! BRRRRRRRRROOOOOOOO!!! AH! AH! AH! AH! E! E! E! E! THE FUCKIN' MONKEYS IS COMIN'! EAT OUR SHIT, AND SUCK OUR DICK! YOU HO-ASS BITCHES!!!"
as well as:
-"The name of my [film production] company is....Bellamafia...Quackafella Records Incorporated by Brime Syndicate 3 Y-Yellow Men...Trillionaire Club....Cuz this is a trillion dollar industry. You gots ta' think big. And you know what else we gon' do? We gon' make it so there's only 2 labels, we only gonna have 2 labels. And the other one is gonna be called...[leans in uncomfortably close to the cameraman] Big Brotha Thunda, BIG Booty Wonda, and The Masta Blasta to cut off all the little boy's wee-wees, the dispicable ones, so all these little boys can get pussy off they minds, they gon' lose they dick and nuts [etc, etc]."

Saw them at a small venue in Kingston last week, they closed with this song, was amazing! The band even stuck around by the bar/smoking area to chat, very humble, especially the lead singer. Especially since they stayed till at least 1am and they said they had to catch a plane to Zurich at 6am
