Interestingly, Doja Cat has publicly spoken about being “addicted” to weed, and says that’s where her stage name came from, via Dazed.
Addiction

I don't know how I should tell you this but
I got one way, maybe this will work
You just gotta listen, closely to me
I need you
Me, us
Addicted, uh
Under the influence, a little
And it makes me want to dance, a little
An itch I just can't scratch, addiction
I've got such a pretty body
Looks prettier when I'm a mess
And I just like to call him daddy
'Cause the first one he up and left
And you can relate to broken girls
I've been a day without it, I'm proud of myself
Baby can you break the curse?
I'm still gonna believe in magic
You can relate to broken girls
I've been a day without it, I'm proud of myself
Baby can you break the curse?
I'm still gonna believe in magic
I am addicted, a little
Under the influence, a little
And it makes me want to dance, a little
An itch I just can't scratch, addiction
Look
I'm just a little bit, I'm just a little bit (oh na-na)
I'm just a little bit, I'm just a little bit (na, na, na, na-na)
I'm just a little bit, I'm just a little bit (oh na-na)
I'm just a little bit, I'm just a little bit (na, na, na, na-na)
More, just a little bit more, just a little bit (oh na-na)
More, just a little bit more, just a little bit (na, na, na, na-na)
More, just a little bit more, just a little bit (oh na-na)
More, just a little bit more, just a little bit (na, na, na, na-na)
Yeah, roll another hunnid
We could get that white girl lit like Madonna
Bitch, I ain't Gwen but this shit is bananas
We could make the whole body drip like a sauna
Swim like a piranha, put M's in my water
I can't feel my lips, my limbs feel like rubber
Yeah I came down, but I still need another
One under the tongue and then a little marijuana
They on a trees like koala
Doja Cat's "Addiction" is a song about addiction, but it is not your typical addiction song. Instead of talking about addiction in the traditional sense of substance abuse, Doja sings about her addiction to a person. The lyrics describe her need for this person, her longing for them, and her struggle to break free from the hold that they have over her.
The first verse sets the stage for the song, with Doja confessing that she doesn't know how to tell the person she is addicted to how she feels. She then goes on to describe her addiction, saying that she is "under the influence" and "just can't scratch" the itch that this person has created.
In the second verse, Doja explains why she is so addicted to this person. She describes herself as a "broken girl" and makes reference to her troubled past, saying that the first man she loved "up and left" her. She then asks the person if they can "break the curse," and although she says that she is "proud" of herself for going a day without them, she still believes in "magic" and the power of their connection.
The chorus is a catchy and repetitive tune that drives home the message of addiction. Doja sings that she is "just a little bit" addicted and under the influence, but it is enough to make her want to dance.
Overall, "Addiction" is a song that speaks to the power that people can have over one another, and the struggle to break free from toxic relationships.

she really is
@itsmeharperjacksons6633
The fact that Doja is speaking about her struggles; such as her addictive tendency with psychedelics and alcohol. While also speaking about how she treats herself and her relationship due to her father not being there over a fun, up tempo beat track says a lot.
@tophafnopasta5091
WHY IS NO ONE TALKING ABOUT THIS COMMENT?!?!
@itsmeharperjacksons6633
@@tophafnopasta5091 Lol thank you! But with no one speaking about this comment is further accomplishing what Doja (Amala) set out to achieve. This song was done to distract the listeners from what she is saying. She called us to listen in the beginning when she said "I just need you to listen closely..." but that went through the window when the track started to pick up.
@soaribb32
I get that too. But It works cuz it's upbeat. The clash is so interesting. It's sexy and sweet but it's dizzing, she sounds drunk on the post chorus, the drug references, daddy issues... everything conects.
