I’m only 20 but I’ve known this was Dollys song since I was a child. My grandmother and my mother adore Dolly Parton and raised me the same way. I’ve always loved the Dolly version more than the Whitney cover, it’s always made me feel more emotion than the Whitney version (which is also amazing, they’re both such phenomenal singers)

When Dolly was cast in the film adaptation of the stage show 'Best Little Whorehouse in Texas', they added the song - I guess because it fitted so well.
