Dolores O'Riordan was the youngest of seven born and raised in Ballybricken, Limerick, Ireland. In 1990 she auditioned and won the role of lead singer for a band called The Cranberry Saw Us (later changed to The Cranberries). The band released five albums before they took a break in 2003.
Her first solo album Are You Listening? was released in May 2007. Her second solo album No Baggage was released in August 2009.
While in London, England, for a short recording session, Dolores died suddenly on 15 January 2018 aged 46. The cause of death was drowning due to alcohol intoxication.
'Dolores was discovered “submerged in the bath” at the time she was found, and an examination of her body found no signs of injury or self-harm. There was a bottle of champagne, as well as five miniature bottles of alcohol, plus containers of prescription drugs. The toxicology report showed that Dolores’ blood had “therapeutic” levels of medication, but her alcohol level was astronomically high — four times over the legal limit of driving.'

But I don't think so anymore
Think about what you?re living for
Now that you've opened up that door
Be careful what you?re wishing
Be careful what you?re wishing
Be careful what you?re wishing for
You might scream
You might shout
Trying to suss it out
Sinking low
You might scream
You might shout
Trying to suss it out
Sinking low
For, the dictator, be careful what you?re living for
Alcohol & cocaine, I think it's driving you insane
Be careful what you?re wishing for [x3]
Now that you?ve opened up that door [x3]
You might scream
You might shout
Trying to suss it out
Sinking low
You might scream
You might shout
You might scream
You might shout
Trying to suss it out
Sinking low.
In Dolores O'Riordan's song "Be Careful," she warns about the dangers of chasing after one's desires without considering the consequences. The lyrics begin by explaining how she used to believe that someone close to her was insecure, but she has now realized that their behavior is attributed to something much worse. The warning to be cautious of one's wishes is repeated throughout the song, emphasizing the importance of considering the outcomes before making decisions. The lyrics mention alcohol and cocaine as potentially harmful influences that can drive someone insane in pursuit of their desires.
The chorus repeats twice in the song, emphasizing the importance of being careful with one's desires. The lines, "You might scream, you might shout, trying to suss it out, sinking low," suggest that the cost of recklessly pursuing one's desires can come with negative emotional consequences. The repetition of the final lines, "You might scream, you might shout, sinking low," emphasizes the emotional burden of chasing one's wishes without considering the risks.
Overall, "Be Careful" is a cautionary tale about the dangers of ignoring consequences when pursuing desires. It is a reminder to take a step back and consider the impact of our actions and desires on ourselves and those around us.
