Originally signed to No-U-Turn, he moved to the scene leader Moving Shadow in 1995. He has released four critically acclaimed albums to date, over 100 singles, high profile electronic remixes as well as many collaborations with some of the scene’s most talented artists.
As one of the pioneers of the tech-step genre he is well known for his cinematic otherworldly soundscapes, and it has often been suggested that he move into doing film soundtracks as his sound often conveys a strong visual element. Teamed with his sought after talent for producing dancefloor pounding rhythms, he has managed to stay at the pinnacle of the scene to this day.
In 2005 Dom started his own label Dom & Roland Productions releasing the creme de la creme of Drum and Bass collaborations, as well as being an outlet for his own work. An accomplished sound engineer, Dom is well known to have co-produced and mixed some of the classics of the drum and bass scene, including Subway with Ed Rush, Sonar with DJ Trace, appearing as guest producer alongside Optical on Grooveriders seminal Prototype Years album, as well as having enjoyed enormous success with many of his own tracks including the mighty Thunder, Imagination and Can’t Punish Me. The late John Peel a longtime fan, also approached Dom to commission a piece of work although sadly this dream was never realised.
Over the years Dom & Roland releases have been commissioned for several Playstation games and licensed to television in various countries including the BBC and Channel 4 in England. More recently Dom has continued his passion for pushing the boundaries of music technology, contributing from a producer’s standpoint, by being an advisor to various music software companies, including Native Instruments and Focusrite, taking studio tools to the next generation.
In his latest album No Strings Attached, in addition to his latest solo work, Dom has teamed up with the current crop of big name producers to release a 12 track album, featuring collaborations with Amon Tobin of Ninja records, the trendy Dutch super producers Noisia, Violence label owner Hive, Audio, and last but by no means least Rob Playford, Dom’s old label boss, now close friend, also known as the co-producer and engineer of Goldie’s legendary timeless album. Doms latest album is one of his finest works to date and is due for release in November on all formats including a five part vinyl edition.

From Discogs:
The connection between David Bowie and this tune is just much, much, much more than that wacky intro from Bowie's Let's Dance. Not only does Can't Punish Me use a sample from David Bowie's Let's Dance, Bowie even approved of the track! In case you didn't know he was into drum and bass! My source being a DOA thread from a year or so ago. In case it gets nuked:
I'm forever telling this story but its good:
The people in the office at moving shadow used to always be on the wind up. it was around the time Steve Jackson used to ring people up from kiss fm on the phone to wind them up. it was a thing....
Next week I got a call from David Bowie saying he loved can't punish me. I told him to "fuck off" and hung up the phone. The label then rang to say, "We just gave David Bowie your number and apparently you told him to go do one, why did you do that?" (no laughing)
Long story short, David rang me back and we had a giggle about wind ups and a little chat about what inspired us both day to day to make music. He was very easy to talk to, spiritual, and funny, he seemed genuinely excited to be talking to me and asked me questions about drums....specifically how he liked dnb tunes where the snare was as punchy as the kick!
It turns out David used to own the building where the moving shadow office and studios were. I later found out my studio was Davids writing room.
I only talked to him that time, but it it will be a conversation I shall always cherish."
@executivesteve
youwouldknow hmmm off the top of my head I'd suggest the entire 2-on-1 series, the Blueprint compilation, Moving Shadow 01.1, the Storm From The East and Transamazonia compilations too, there were a whole load of amazing releases, most of the Blame & Justice, Hyper-On-Experience, early Tech Itch (Contents of Thought!), Nookie, Desired State stuff was all amazing, not to mention Deep Blue and Omni Trio etc.
Label was pretty much solid gold till about 97, got very patchy after that, a lot of jazzy tunes and hard techy ones that haven't aged massively well - in my opinion of course.
Dive in! Enjoy!
Kmag and the likes have a few decent potted guides to classic MS on their site, also try asking on Subvert Central forum, those guys really know their onions.
Drumtrip . Co . UK also worth a look!
