Let earth receive her King
Let every heart prepare Him room
And Heaven and nature sing
And Heaven and nature sing
And Heaven and Heaven and nature sing
Joy to the world, the Savior reigns
While fields and floods, rocks, hills, and plains
Repeat the sounding joy, repeat the sounding joy
Repeat, repeat the sounding joy
He rules the world with truth and grace
And makes the nations prove
The glories of His righteousness
And wonders of His love
And wonders of His love
And wonders and wonders of His love
Joy to the world, the Lord is come
Let earth receive her King
Let every heart prepare Him room
And Heaven and nature sing
And Heaven and nature sing
And Heaven and Heaven and nature sing
The lyrics of "Joy to the World" speak about the arrival of Jesus, the Savior who has come to rule the world with truth and grace. The song calls upon the earth to receive their King and prepare their hearts for His arrival. All of nature is celebrating, singing in harmony with Heaven in a wonderful display of unity and joy. The second verse of the song is a call for all men to join in this celebration and sing praises to the Lord.
In the third verse, the lyrics speak about the righteous rule of the Lord and the wonders of His love. His reign is not one of tyranny or oppression, but of justice and love. All nations will come to acknowledge the righteousness of His ways and the wonder of His love. The final stanza of the song returns to the theme of joy and celebration, reminding us once again that the Lord has come and that we should open our hearts to receive Him. The repetition of the phrase "And Heaven and nature sing" underscores the message of the song that all of creation is united in praise of the Lord.
