He began his career in the 60's with bands as The Improvers and His Benz. At the start of his career he recorded and sang in English in that fase he recorded a cover version of Elvis Presley's 'Devil in Disguise' but later on he scored a little hit with a Dutch translation of the protest song 'Universal Soldier' entitled 'Zomaar een Soldaat'. In spite of his attempts to make it in Holland it would take 10 years before he would enter the Dutch hitparade again. 'Rocky' made it in 1976, it went to become his greatest hit and reached the #12 in the Dutch Top 40, 2 weeks later it reached the exact same position in the Belgian BRT Top 30, in both country's it became a bigger hit than the original recording from famous Frank Farian. After 'Rocky' he tried a few times to score another hit but didn't succeed, one his attempts was bassed on a cliffhanger from the then extremely popular tv series Dallas, the song 'Wie Schoot op J.R. Ewing' didn't make it to the Top 40.

@THE DRAGON Appreciate the response. The original chain is still in place and hasn't been touched yet. I plan on using all new German made parts. I think it's best if I just remove the cover. Just see if you agree with my steps below.
1 Timing is slightly off and leave it as is.
2 Remove timing cover
3 loosen tensioner to provide slack on chain
4 Put crank bolt and harmonic balancer back on.
5 carefully turn the crank and cams using a wrenchs clockwise together in till I reach tdc and get everything lined up
6 separate the chain and install new parts with phasers
My biggest concern is how to line up the original timing marks with the old parts before I disassemble.

One thing from a German: It is not "zero top". OT is short for "Oberer Totpunkt" which means top dead centre. You can also see that the O has a different shape than the 0s on the wheel. And on the other side you have UT, which is "Unterer Totpunkt".
THE DRAGON
Awesome thank you for that information.

Hey dragon when taking it off to make sure it’s on the correct side. You mentioned the intake side has to be tight. Does that apply while taking it off? If you set it at TDC and the riser is off. Which line do you follow? Ine closes to the arrow or? Appreciate the detail it helps
THE DRAGON
Doesn't matter when you take it off. All lines and arrows have to line up when chain is on and tensioner is installed. The arrow is on the housing for the camshaft then there is a line on the camshaft, then there is a line on the cam phaser itself, all have to line up. There is an alignment dowel/pin between the cam and phaser that aligns them together when installed. I only mention about wrapping the chain over the intake side first because it's sometimes complicated to get everything lined up,, because there is always tension from the valvesprings trying to turn the camshaft, and when you install the tensioner, it tightens the chain, which can turn one of the phasers slightly, so doing it the way I described helps keep alignment and proper tension to ensure alignment after tensioner is installed. Hope that helps.

Hey nice job , what about the intake valves ? I have a misfire that it's not recognised by the ECU , is there anything that you have done to them ? Thanks
THE DRAGON
I haven't done any valves on these motors, this was a customers car. You sure it's a misfire, could be a vacuum leak or something if there is no codes

Do you have to get all the lines to line up before you take the cam phaser off or do you put the new phasers on, then line everything up? Right now the cam shaft lines are not visible and I can’t figure out how to get it lined back-up before I take the old phasers off. Appreciate any help you can give.

It's best to line everything up with crank pulley before you remove old phasers, just but the crank pulley mark on 0T like I show in the video, but the cams are still going to turn alittle when the chain is removed because the valve springs have pressure. There is a spot on the cam where you can put a wrench and turn them when it's time to install chain again to time everything. I have a Playlist on my channel with 3 other videos about this job I never knew so many people would watch this and need help, I would have done a much better video...🤔

Do you know if 2013 C250 W204 M271 is a non-interference or an interference engine. In other words is there a gap between pistons and valve at TDC, so that in case of breaking timing chain the walves are not touched or bent by piston hitting on valves ?
