I was really into playing elecrtic guitar for quite a few years, spent time working on Eric Johnson and Satch tunes and Dream Theater stuff. But then I got into Michael Hedges and Don Ross, guys like that. I didn't have an instructor for fignerstyle guitar, just worked on it by myself. I developed my ear some by learning their tunes from the CD and I think by learning that way, I developed my own sound. Anyway, that's how I went about it!
@AndrewWesthoff
And thank god you did!
@ledelste
Like what Andy said. We’re both Michael Hedges fans. Miss that guy. But I sure can hear the influence.

Absolutely phenomenal!

It's called a fan-fret or multi-scale neck. It's designed so that the bass strings have more room to intonate properly. If you think of a piano or a harp, you'll recall that the bass strings are longer. That's the idea being applied here. That guitar is Don's Beneteau baritone. I am having a couple of guitars built with the multi-scale design right now. It's brilliant! Rock on!

Manliest song ever. I can feel my facial hair growing faster.
@Goggansjoe
How humble is don to look so happy while playing a song he wrote but Andy made famous. What a guy
@tenacious645
Don Ross has truly got the funk. Mixed with Andy's sweet contemporary melodies you get something to behold.
