I'll be there
Don White Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

There ain't no chains strong enough to hold me
Ain't no breeze big enough to slow me
I never have seen a river that's too wide

There ain't no jail tight enough to lock me
Ain't no man big enough to stop me
I'll be there if you ever want me by your side
There ain't no rope stout enough to bind me
Look for me, honey you will find me
Any old time, you're ready with your charm

I'll be there ready and a-waiting
There won't be any hesitating
I'll be there if you ever want me in your arms

Love me, if you're ever going to love me
Never have seen a road too rough to ride

There ain't no chain strong enough to hold me
Ain't no breeze big enough to slow me
I'll be there if you ever want me by your side

Love me, if you're ever going to love me
I never have seen a road too rough to ride

There ain't no chain strong enough to hold me

Ain't no breeze big enough to slow me
I'll be there if you ever want me by your side

Overall Meaning

The first set of lyrics in the song "I'll Be There" by Don White speaks about the singer's strength and resilience. He says that there is no chain strong enough to hold him down, no wind that is powerful enough to slow him down, and he has never seen a river that is too wide for him to cross. He further adds that there is no jail that can hold him and no man who can stop him from being with the person he wants to be with. He offers his unwavering loyalty to this person, saying that he will be there by their side if they ever want or need him.

The second verse speaks to the singer's unbreakable will and indomitable spirit. He says that no rope is stout enough to bind him and that whoever is looking for him will find him. He further adds that he will always be ready and willing to be with this person, that there won't be any hesitation on his part, and he'll be there to hold them in his arms. The chorus repeats the same sentiments, and he reinforces that he will be there for the person he loves, and he is ready to face any challenge that comes their way.

I did some research on this, Freedom, and it turns out there are two different songs that have very similar titles:
- This song, entitled "I'll Be There (If You Ever Want Me)", written by Ray Price and Rusty Gabbard in 1953. This is the same song JJ Cale recorded on his "Okie" album.
- "I Will Be There", written by Paul Brady and John O'Kane in 1995, and covered by Eric Clapton and as a duet with Ed Sheeran.

Thanks for listening to the song, Freedom. You can find some interesting versions for it right here:
