O God of Abraham
Don Moen Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

O God of Abraham
You are the great I am
And You can do anything

Oh, anything
O God of sovereign words
You spoke the universe
And You can do anything

You can do anything
O God of Israel
You are Emmanuel
And You are in everything

In everything
O God of deity
You reign in majesty
And You can do anything
You can do anything
There is none like You
There is none like You
Who was and is
And is to come

Oh, there's none like You
O God of grace divine
Your Love has made me Thine
And You are my everything

My everything
O God of ancient praise
Be glorified today
As we give You everything
We give Your everything
O God of all my prayers
I know You're always there

And You can do anything
You can do anything

Overall Meaning

The song O God of Abraham by Don Moen praises God and exalts His omnipotence and presence in everything. The lyrics describe God as the great I am, sovereign, deity, and Ancient of Days. The song acknowledges God's ability to do anything and everything. The repetition of "anything" emphasizes the limitlessness of God's power. The first verse refers to God as the God of Abraham, which alludes to the covenant that God made with Abraham, ensuring that his descendants would be a great nation. The song acknowledges that God is the same yesterday, today, and forever, as evidenced by the line "Who was and is and is to come."

Glory to God. It's been long I sang or heard this sng, but this morning I woke up and I can hear the song in my Spirit re-echoeing over and over again, "Oh God of Abraham... You can do anything". I had to look for the song and downloaded it, and it became a blessing to me in my devotion today.
I see God ministering to me in my present situation that "He can do anything".
Hallelujah... Praise God. There is none like Him.
