Donald O'Connor & Debbie Reynolds Lyrics

Good Morning
We've talked the whole night through
Good Morning
Good Morning to you
Good Morning
Good Morning
Good Morning
Good Morning to you
When the band began to play the stars were shinging bright
Now the milkman's on his way
and it's too late to say good night
So, Good Morning
Good Morning
Sun beams will soon smile through
Good Morning
Good Morning to you and you and you and you
Good Morning
Good Morning
We've gabbed the whole night through
Good Morning
Good Morning to you
Nothing could be grander than to be in Louisiana
In the morning
In the morning
It's great to stay up late
Good Morning
Good Morning to you
I'd be as yippe if it wasn't Mississippi
When we left the movie show the future wasn't bright
But came the dawn the show goes on
and I don't want to say good night
So say good morning
Good Morning
Rainbows are shining through
Good Morning
Good Morning
Bonjour
Monsour
Buenos Días
Muchas Frías
Bongiorno
Montichorno

Good Morning to you

The song "Good Morning" performed by Donald O'Connor, Gene Kelly, and Debbie Reynolds is a cheerful and upbeat tune that captures the joy and excitement of waking up to a new day. The song is all about greeting the morning and the people around you with a positive attitude and feeling of gratitude.
The first verse of the song sets the stage for the rest of the tune, with the singers remarking on how they have talked the whole night through and are now ready to greet the new day with an optimistic outlook. As the band begins to play, the lyrics become more celebratory, with the singers reveling in the fact that it is great to stay up late and enjoy the moment. Throughout the song, they encourage others to join in their joyful exuberance, inviting everyone around them to say "Good Morning" with them.
The song is filled with playful and whimsical lyrics, including several lines that drop the names of different states and countries, such as Louisiana, Mississippi, and "Buenos Días Muchas Frías." These references serve to highlight the universality of the song's message and encourage listeners from all over the world to join in the celebration of life.

Debbie Reynolds has related that while she was filming this sequence with Kelly and O'Connor, she was sobbing on an MGM sound stage because she didn't believe that she could equal the extraordinary expertise of her co-stars. Fred Astaire, who was also filming on the lot, heard her and said, "Debbie, I never let anyone watch me rehearse, but I want you to see my process". He proceeded to experiment with numbers from The Band Wagon and he was sweating and exhausted; Astaire then said to Reynolds-" Now you see the amount of work that it takes to make these numbers look effortless". Reynolds, with a new appreciation for the work, completed her work on this iconic film.

Debbie Reynolds was not a dancer when she made Singin' in the Rain; her background was as a gymnast. Kelly apparently insulted her for her lack of dance experience, upsetting her. In a subsequent encounter when Fred Astaire was in the studio, he found Reynolds crying under a piano. Hearing what had happened, Astaire volunteered to help her with her dancing. Kelly later admitted that he had not been kind to Reynolds and was surprised that she was still willing to talk to him afterwards. After shooting the "Good Morning" routine, which had taken from 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m. to shoot, Reynolds' feet were bleeding. Years later, she was quoted as saying that "Singin' in the Rain and childbirth were the two hardest things I ever had to do in my life."

@@Kazimeer516 Yeah she said her feet bled during production. Gene Kelly was not a nice man the way he treated Reynolds.
@femalehobbitwithhairyfeet
I thought she was crying because mysogynistic Gene Kelly was a nightmare and his perfectionism made them spend 15 hours filming this scene with bloody feet even if they got it in the first take?

RIP Debbie Reynolds. Whenever it rains we'll know you're singing and dancing in heaven with Carrie.
