Born in Chicago, Illinois, Jones' upbringing was rough. He struggled between wanting to be a musician and to be a member of a street gang. After a brush with death, Jones left the gang and focused on a music career forming the group Porscha. However, Jones was gaining notice as a writer penning songs for established R&B acts such as Usher, producing the singer's 1995 hit, "Think of You", 702's "Get It Together" and also wrote for groups such as Brownstone and Silk.
In 1996, he signed with LaFace Records and released his debut album, My Heart, which included his hit cover of Stevie Wonder's 1976 ballad "Knocks Me Off My Feet". It wasn't until 1999 however that Jones began to establish himself as a R&B hit maker with the album, Where I Wanna Be. The album yielded the number-one hits such as "U Know What's Up", which featured TLC member Lisa "Left-Eye" Lopes and the title track. Other hits included "Shorty (Got Her Eyes on Me)" and "This Luv".
In 2002, Jones released the gold-selling Life Goes On album, which featured the hits, "You Know That I Love You" and "Put Me Down" featuring Styles P.. Four years later, he released his fourth album, Journey of a Gemini, which featured the Tim & Bob hit, "I'm Gonna Be", which became a big hit on Urban AC. Jones is currently writing songs for Usher, Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey on their upcoming albums.
Gotta Get Her

I gotta get her out of my heart
But I don't know where to start
Every little thing you do
Just won't let me get over you
Gotta get her out of my head
Gotta get her out of my heart
Every little thing you do
Won't let me get over you
I think back on all the love we shared
Ain't it sad to see it all disappeared
When I don't even know where we went wrong
But my heart beats strong
And I know that you been away too long
But you know that I'm not the type of guy
To just sit around and let time pass me by
Got to get on out for a while
And just do my thing
But every time I get up
It seems I end up right back in love
Gotta get her out of my head
I gotta get her out of my heart
But I don't know where to start
Every little thing you do
Just won't let me get over you
I pretend that I'm not breaking down
I tried to hide the hurt whenever you come around
But it's plain to see that I need your love
So baby if you stayed another day
It wouldn't be too long
Everywhere I go at the end of every show
I press rewind to me and you
And the things we used to do, and we did so much
I can't escape the memories of how we loved and lost
And let our thoughts tear us apart
Gotta get her out of my head
I gotta get her out of my heart
But I don't know where to start
Every little thing you do
Just won't let me get over you

Gotta get her out of my heart
I need to let go of my feelings for her
But I don't know where to start
I'm not sure how to move on from her
Every little thing you do
Her actions and words keep reminding me of her
Just won't let me get over you
I can't seem to forget about her completely
I think back on all the love we shared
I reminisce about the good times we had together
Ain't it sad to see it all disappeared
It's upsetting to think that it's all gone now
When I don't even know where we went wrong
I'm not sure what caused our relationship to end
But my heart beats strong
Despite everything, I still have strong feelings for her
And I know that you been away too long
I'm aware that it's been a while since we were together
But you know that I'm not the type of guy
I'm not someone who just sits around and waits for things to happen
To just sit around and let time pass me by
I won't waste my time waiting for her to come back
Got to get on out for a while
I need to take a break and focus on other things
And just do my thing
I need to pursue my own interests and hobbies
But every time I get up
Despite my efforts to move on,
It seems I end up right back in love

So baby if you stayed another day
If she were to come back,
It wouldn't be too long
I would fall for her again in no time
Everywhere I go at the end of every show
No matter where I am or what I'm doing,
I press rewind to me and you
My mind always goes back to memories of us
And the things we used to do, and we did so much
I remember all the things we did together
I can't escape the memories of how we loved and lost
The memories of our past relationship are always with me
And let our thoughts tear us apart
Our differences and arguments caused our relationship to end
