Born in Chicago, Illinois, Jones' upbringing was rough. He struggled between wanting to be a musician and to be a member of a street gang. After a brush with death, Jones left the gang and focused on a music career forming the group Porscha. However, Jones was gaining notice as a writer penning songs for established R&B acts such as Usher, producing the singer's 1995 hit, "Think of You", 702's "Get It Together" and also wrote for groups such as Brownstone and Silk.
In 1996, he signed with LaFace Records and released his debut album, My Heart, which included his hit cover of Stevie Wonder's 1976 ballad "Knocks Me Off My Feet". It wasn't until 1999 however that Jones began to establish himself as a R&B hit maker with the album, Where I Wanna Be. The album yielded the number-one hits such as "U Know What's Up", which featured TLC member Lisa "Left-Eye" Lopes and the title track. Other hits included "Shorty (Got Her Eyes on Me)" and "This Luv".
In 2002, Jones released the gold-selling Life Goes On album, which featured the hits, "You Know That I Love You" and "Put Me Down" featuring Styles P.. Four years later, he released his fourth album, Journey of a Gemini, which featured the Tim & Bob hit, "I'm Gonna Be", which became a big hit on Urban AC. Jones is currently writing songs for Usher, Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey on their upcoming albums.

Hmm, whoa
Check it out
Sitting at the light she pulled up on my right
Looking in the mirror making sure her shit was tight
I know she felt me watching but was scared to look my way
I know she wants to look, but I think I got her shook
Under pressure, don't know what to do
She's got two cuties with her and I got my peoples too
She put it in one, stepped on the gun, and made a you
Looked inside, gave me a smile, then she blew, what am I gonna do
Tell me, which way did she go
Pretty young thing in a GS4
Love was so bangin' had me open from the door
Tell me, have you seen her?
She had a smile that I couldn't forget
Shinning brighter than the floss piece around her neck
The girl was so fine I just gotta make her mine
Tell me, have you seen her? Have you seen her?
It's been a while now, and I'm steady on the case
Everyday I'm looking for her face
It's like a dream to me, and I gotta make it real
Gotta let her know just how I feel
Now there she goes again, driving by
I hit my horn she throws her beams on high
I put my joy in it, and I tried to give chase
She disappears again without a trace
Tell me, have you seen her?
Tell me, which way did she go
Pretty young thing in a GS4
Love was so bangin' had me open from the door
Tell me, have you seen her?
She had a smile that I couldn't forget
Shinning brighter than the floss piece around her neck
The girl was so fine, I just gotta make her mine
Tell me, have you seen her? Have you seen her?
I've gotta find her
Where did you go, babe?
Hmm, listen
Girl you seem to think you got away from me
You got me looking for you in all these busy streets
I must admit, I got a thang for you
It's just a little test of all the things I'll do for you
Tell me, which way did she go
Pretty young thing in a GS4
Love was so bangin' had me open from the door
Tell me, have you seen her?
She had a smile that I couldn't forget
Shinning brighter than the floss piece around her neck
The girl was so fine, I just gotta make her mine
Tell me, have you seen her? Have you seen her?
Tell me, which way did she go
Pretty young thing in a GS4
Love was so bangin' had me open from the door
Tell me, have you seen her?
The lyrics to Donell Jones's song "Have You Seen Her" describe the singer's fascination with a woman he sees while driving. The woman in question is driving a GS4, and the singer admires her from afar, fascinated by her beauty and demeanor. The first verse sets up the scene, with the singer and the woman both sitting at a light, their cars side by side. The singer is watching the woman, but she seems nervous and avoids eye contact. The second verse reveals that the singer has been looking for this woman for a while, and has become almost obsessed with finding her. However, despite his best efforts, she continues to elude him.
The chorus of the song repeats the title phrase, "Have You Seen Her?" It's a pleading, desperate question that gives voice to the singer's desire and frustration. He wants to find this woman and make her his own, but he can't seem to locate her. The bridge of the song introduces an element of challenge or competition, with the singer taunting the woman and daring her to try and escape his pursuit. However, the overall tone of the song is one of yearning and longing, with the singer expressing his deep infatuation with the woman and his desire to be with her.
Overall, "Have You Seen Her" is a classic R&B ballad full of passion and emotion. It's a song about the thrill of the chase, but also about the pain of unrequited love. The lyrics paint a vivid picture of a man searching desperately for the woman of his dreams, and the catchy chorus is sure to get stuck in your head.
