Crazy Something Normal
Donkeyboy Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Verse
Champagne glass
And a merlo wine
With an old man
Staring at his broken time

Got my T shirt on
When it's suit and tie
But I showed up late
Who did you invite

Someone asked me
To save my soul
I said I already gave it to the radio

There's a ripped off cord
To my TV screen
With a note saying
I'm not afraid to dream

Chorus
Living how we wanna
Speeding through the life
Crazy Something Normal
We don't need advice

Living in the color
There's no black and white
Crazy Something Normal
We're Taking off tonight

Verse
The Good die young
We all know that
So that I don't
Have to play the hero act

Got my tax check back
And I bet on black
I'll be here next year
Trying to win it back

When they ask
What did you invent
Tell them how to see the world through a limo tint
Cause there's a ripped off cord
To my TV screen
Because I will never
Be afraid to dream

Chorus

Bridge
If you don't know where come follow me
If you don't know where come follow me

In the midnight air no I don't sleep
If you don't know where come follow me

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Donkeyboy's song "Crazy Something Normal" portray a life of living on one's own terms and not conforming to societal expectations. The opening verse illustrates the juxtaposition of a laid-back attire - a T-shirt - at an event where formal wear is expected, but the singer is unconcerned and somewhat defiant. There is also a nod to the fleetingness of time as the old man stares at his broken watch. The broken TV screen with a note saying "I'm not afraid to dream" continues the theme of nonconformity, as the singer is not afraid to dream, even if it means not following societal norms.

The chorus reinforces the theme of living life on one's own terms, "Living how we wanna, Speeding through the life, Crazy something normal, We don't need advice." The singer chooses to live life in color and not in black and white, and they have no need for advice on how to live their life.

The second verse begins with the assertion that the good die young but the singer refuses to play the hero act. Instead, they choose to gamble their tax refund on black, emphasizing the theme of taking risks and living life on their own terms. The verse ends with a plea to tell others how to see the world through a limo tint, meaning that one can choose to live life with a more luxurious and carefree attitude rather than dwelling on societal expectations.

I remember watching this as a kid like 5-9 years ago and have been searching “spray paint music video” to try to find it again. And I finally found it after hearing “sometimes” by the neighbor and searching the lyrics. I CANT SAY HOW HAPPY I AM, this is so nostalgic to me. I love this song, awesome!
