"I Love You Always Forever" was hugely successful on U.S. radio, staying at number two on the Billboard Hot 100 for nine consecutive weeks and spending thirteen consecutive weeks at number one on the airplay chart. It exceeded one million "spins" on radio to claim its place in music industry history as the most-played single up to that point. The single reached number five on the UK Singles Chart in 1996. The popularity of the song shot Lewis's debut album, Now in a Minute, to platinum status.
Her second LP, Blue Planet, won critical acclaim, but it was largely overlooked by the public. Although it eventually produced a U.S. number-one dance single, "Love Him", Lewis parted ways with Atlantic Records and independently produced her third LP, Be Still, which featured Lewis on an almost entirely acoustic set. Lewis was featured as a guest vocalist on several trance music/house music recordings. Her most recent LP, In the Pink, was release in 2008.

Donna Lewis Lyrics

Under the yellow
Under the open sky
come here
Come to me
Come sleep
Lie with me
Enchant you
I could be here with you
If only you would free your way through
I could be safe with you
If only you would free your way through
come
Lay your hands on me now
Lay your words on me now
My love
lay your words on me now
Lay your hands on me now
My love
inside
Glistening
This joy of adventure
Crystal on crystal
Surrounds you it's peaceful
Oh I wonder if
Seven roses later
Was a fairy tale
I could be here with you......
The lyrics of Donna Lewis's song "Hands" describe a dreamy and intimate atmosphere between the singer and the person she is addressing. The song opens with the lines "Under the red rose, under the yellow, under the open sky," setting a mood of romanticism and nature. The singer invites their beloved to come to them, to sleep and lay with them, and watch the "graceful little greenedged animals enchanting" them. Lewis paints a picture of a beautiful moment where everything around the couple is peaceful and serene.
The singer then expresses that they could be here with their beloved if only they would "free your way through" - meaning, if they were more open and free in their emotions and thoughts. The lyrics seem to indicate that the singer is ready and willing to share a deep connection with their partner but is being held back by their partner's emotional barriers. The chorus itself is a repetition of an invitation for love, where they ask their partner to lay their words and hands on them.
The second verse is even more romantic, describing their love as "glistening," and the joy of their adventure surrounded by crystals. The singer then questions whether the events of the moment could be a fairy tale, a nod to the dreamy quality of the song.
Overall, Hands is a beautiful song about love, romanticism, and the intimacy that can be shared between two people in a moment of deep connection.
