Toot toot, hey, beep beep
Toot toot, hey, beep beep
Toot toot, hey, beep beep
Toot toot, hey, beep beep

Bad girls
Talking 'bout the sad girls
Sad girls
Talking 'bout bad girls, yeah

See them out on the street at night (walkin')
Picking up on all kinds of strangers
If the price is right
You can't score if you're pocket's tight
But you want a good time

You ask yourself who they are
Like everybody else, they come from near and far
(Bad girls, yeah)

Bad girls (bad girls)
Talking about the sad girls (sad girls), yeah
The sad girls (sad girls)
Talking about bad girls, yeah

Friday night and the strip is hot (hot)
Sun's gone down and they're out to trot (out trottin')
Spirit's high and legs look hot
Do you wanna get down?

Now, don't you ask yourself who they are?
Like everybody else, they wanna be a star
Yeah, yeah, there comes

Bad girl, sad girl
You're such a naughty bad girl, beep beep
Uh-huh
You're bad girl, you're sad girl
You're such a naughty bad girl, beep beep (beep beep)
Uh-huh

Now you and me, we're both the same (both the same)
But you call yourself by different names (different names)
Now your mama won't like it when she finds out (finds out)
Girl is out at night

Toot toot, hey, beep beep
Toot toot, hey, beep beep
Toot toot, hey, beep beep
Toot toot, hey, beep beep

Hey mister, have you got a dime?
Mister, do you want to spend some time, oh yeah
I got what you want, you got what I need
I'll be your baby, come and spend it on me

Hey mister, I'll spend some time with you
With you, you got it, with you

Bad girls, they're just bad girls
Talkin' about sad girls, yeah
Sad girls
Hey, hey mister, got a dime?
Toot toot, hey, beep beep
Toot toot, hey, beep beep

Toot toot, hey, beep beep
Toot toot, hey, beep beep

Overall Meaning

"Bad Girl" by Donna Summer is a song about women who are perceived as promiscuous, and the way society labels and judges them as "bad girls." The song highlights the double standards that exist when it comes to men and women's sexual behavior. The first verse talks about these women being out on the streets at night, picking up strangers, and how they can't have a good time without money. The chorus pairs these women with "sad girls," who are presumably those who do not engage in such behavior, and yet, still face the same judgment and shaming.

The second verse is about the excitement of the weekend, when these women hit up the strip clubs and put on a show. The lyrics suggest that they want to become a star and are willing to do whatever it takes, even if that means using their bodies for money. The bridge of the song acknowledges that these women are not that different from anyone else, they just come from different backgrounds and circumstances. However, the judgments that they face are not based on who they are as people, but rather the labels that society has placed upon them.

In the end, "Bad Girl" is a commentary on the way we judge and stigmatize women for their sexuality, while simultaneously praising men for the same behavior. It calls for a shift in attitudes towards women and the way we view their choices.

I'm 57 today, but when I was 13, (1979) was when this song was released. It was a hit at the time, and still is today.
I loved Donna Summers, I thought she was such a beautiful African American woman, who was a role model for black girls.

I am 35, born in 1987. My husband was singing this song today dancing in the kitchen and I was laughing at the lyrics (initially hearing his silly self sing it) but when I looked up the song just now, I completely understand why he loves it! Donna summer is beautiful, talented for lack of a better word, and makes me realize just how different music was back then. The beat, the vibe, and the mood it puts you in is captivatin💃💃🕺🕺RIP queen
