The name of the band came into being by chance: The bassist of the band, Jan-Dirk Poggemann wanted to name the band like the pastries donuts, but he wrote the name the wrong way by mistake. The other band members liked the name, because they found their philosophy in the name (donots = do nothing, like slackers), so they retained the name. Very rarely the band calls themselves "Ibbtown Rockers" because of their provenance.
The US edition of “Wake The Dogs” features 14 new songs from the punk-veterans, plus 2 additional bonus tracks not included in the original German release, and was released on OK! Good Records.

Break My Stride

Say what you will, I'm not listening
I'll keep breathing
So do what you want, I'm not choking
Walk in my shoes
Stumble and fall
Walk in my shoes
You say it's black, I say it's white
You know I'd burn down the house
to turn on the lights tonight and
I know It's black, you say it's white
But you can't break my stride
No, you can't break my stride
Gonna burn down the house
I'll be turning the tide
You fail to try
I try and fail but that's alright
So keep your mouth shut
And swallow your your pride till you throw up
Walk in my shoes
Stumble and fall
Walk in my shoes
You say it's black, I say it's white
You know I'd burn down the house
to turn on the lights tonight and
I know It's black, you say it's white
But you can't break my stride
No, you can't break my stride
Gonna burn down the house
I'll be turning the tide
You fail to try
I try and fail but that's alright
So keep your mouth shut
And swallow your your pride till you throw up
You say it's black, I say it's white
You know I'd burn down the house
To turn on the lights tonight
You want a kiss, I want a bite
But you can't break my stride
No, you can't break my stride
No
The song “Break My Stride” by the German punk rock band, Donots, is a classic anthem about resilience in the face of adversity. The lyrics describe a person who refuses to give up or be held down by the criticisms and negativity of others. The first verse speaks to the idea that even when others try to bring you down, ultimately, you decide whether or not to let them. The second verse encourages empathy and understanding, asking others to walk in the singer’s shoes, to stumble and fall, and to understand that while there are many different perceptions of any given situation, it is ultimately up to the individual to decide how they will handle it.
The chorus is the most powerful and memorable part of the song. It is a proclamation of self-confidence and determination. When someone tells the singer that something is black, they say it is white. And even if they want to burn down the house to turn on the lights tonight (an apt metaphor for the idea that the singer is willing to make sacrifices to get what they want), nothing will break their stride. The chorus is essentially an anthem for anyone who has felt beaten down, oppressed, or belittled. It is a rallying cry that we are not defined by the opinions of others, and we are not powerless to control our own lives.
Overall, “Break My Stride” is a simple yet powerful song that resonates with audiences of all ages and backgrounds. It speaks to the universal experience of facing obstacles and adversities in life and the importance of staying strong and true to oneself.
