The name of the band came into being by chance: The bassist of the band, Jan-Dirk Poggemann wanted to name the band like the pastries donuts, but he wrote the name the wrong way by mistake. The other band members liked the name, because they found their philosophy in the name (donots = do nothing, like slackers), so they retained the name. Very rarely the band calls themselves "Ibbtown Rockers" because of their provenance.
The US edition of “Wake The Dogs” features 14 new songs from the punk-veterans, plus 2 additional bonus tracks not included in the original German release, and was released on OK! Good Records.

That's Armageddon
Donots Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Nothing's complicated
The concept's clear
Spoon-fed and sedated
Yeah, I know ignorance is bliss
You never broke the rules
How many asses can you kiss
To become the king of fools?
All the wasted time
That's Armageddon
Keep yourself in line
And you're getting nowhere fast
In your small world
Thinking's overrated
No question's asked
You're never agitated
Are you content with what you know?
These handcuffs fit you so fine
Happy-go-lucky prisoner
Keep smiling - you're only dying
You're scared of what you'll never see
The person you can't be
And the places you would never go
Everything that you don't know
You'll never grow
Time, the time
The song "That's Armageddon" by Donots is a satirical critique of individuals who choose to play it safe, remain ignorant, and never question the status quo. The opening lyrics suggest that the concept is clear and spoon-fed to the listener, while the singer acknowledges that ignorance may be bliss, but it leads to a life of servitude in which one never questions authority or breaks rules. The lyrics continue to describe a small world in which thinking is overrated, and there is no agitation or questioning. This world is depicted as a prison, in which the individual is content with the handcuffs and never grows.
The chorus is a warning that all the wasted time spent in such a small world is a kind of Armageddon - not necessarily a world-ending catastrophe, but an end to growth, potential, and self-discovery. The singer suggests that if one keeps themselves in line, they are getting nowhere fast. The bridge of the song explores the fear of the unknown and the things one will never experience or learn. It suggests that happy-go-lucky prisoners may smile, but they are only dying.
