The name of the band came into being by chance: The bassist of the band, Jan-Dirk Poggemann wanted to name the band like the pastries donuts, but he wrote the name the wrong way by mistake. The other band members liked the name, because they found their philosophy in the name (donots = do nothing, like slackers), so they retained the name. Very rarely the band calls themselves "Ibbtown Rockers" because of their provenance.
The US edition of “Wake The Dogs” features 14 new songs from the punk-veterans, plus 2 additional bonus tracks not included in the original German release, and was released on OK! Good Records.

Up Song
Donots Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Like almost drowning in a crowd
Does your life feel like swimming with the sharks?
Where you can't find your own way out?
Here's a song about getting up,
not falling down
We're in this together and we'll stand our ground
'Cause here's a song about getting up, not falling down
When anger is about to break your neck
Frustration eats right through your bowels
Then you should really know how to strike back
Before you finally get knocked out
And you know - we know!
There's so much left to say
You know - we know!
There's got to be another way
So do you know your enemy?
It is deep inside your head
Do you know the strategy?
C'mon, bring out your dead
Yeah, we won't run and hide
We'll cast our fears aside
Try to get off the ground
Do not let them count you out
