The name of the band came into being by chance: The bassist of the band, Jan-Dirk Poggemann wanted to name the band like the pastries donuts, but he wrote the name the wrong way by mistake. The other band members liked the name, because they found their philosophy in the name (donots = do nothing, like slackers), so they retained the name. Very rarely the band calls themselves "Ibbtown Rockers" because of their provenance.
The US edition of “Wake The Dogs” features 14 new songs from the punk-veterans, plus 2 additional bonus tracks not included in the original German release, and was released on OK! Good Records.

"I´m okay" Can you explain just what it takes
To make you feel that way? Maybe you´re right
And I´m always wrong I guess we knew it all along
I´m not gonna waste my energy I´ll keep my thoughts for me
Too bad we cannot hide
When worlds collide
Tell me something new
Too bad we got so far
Got nowhere at all We´re nothing new
And there´s nothing we can do
I´m not gonna have an argument
About having an argument
When will you ever understand
That I comprehend?
Don´t want to talk so please don´t listen
To words that you´re not missing
To somebody as confused as me
Too bad we got so far Back against the wall
We´re nothing new And there´s nothing we can do
The song "Worlds Collide" by Donots explores the complexities of communication and conflict within relationships. The singer expresses a feeling of being unable to communicate effectively, resorting to saying "I'm okay" despite feeling otherwise. The singer questions what it takes for the other person to truly understand their perspective and emotions. The chorus reveals the frustration of being unable to avoid conflict or make any real progress, as the two "worlds" represented by the two people involved, collide. The singer expresses a desire to avoid further confrontation and preserve their own thoughts and energy, rather than continuing to argue without resolution.
The song highlights the challenges of communication and the impact it can have on relationships. Despite the singer's attempts to avoid conflict, they still appear to be stuck in a cycle of argument and frustration. The lyrics suggest that there may be no easy solution to this type of relationship struggle, with the somewhat pessimistic refrain of "there's nothing we can do" repeated throughout the song.

It is regrettable we cannot conceal ourselves
When worlds collide
Once disparate universes merge

It is unfortunate that we have progressed so far
Got nowhere at all
But have not reached any destination
We´re nothing new
We are not unique
And there´s nothing we can do

Too bad we got so far
It is regretful we have progressed so extensively
Back against the wall
Stuck in a predicament
We´re nothing new
We are not original
And there´s nothing we can do
And there is no solution
