A great army came to the camp
Their numbers were large and their intentions aggressive.

They brought the sign of the cross
The enemy soldiers bore the symbol of the Christian faith.

Steel meets steel, the Cross against the Hammer.
Violent clashes ensued between our two armies - those who supported the Christian cross and those who fought for heathen gods.

My sons shall tell of this day
My children will be informed of the events that unfold on this tragic day.

On which their father died
They will learn of my death in battle with the Christian army.

A glorious breed has been their one
My sons will carry on an honorable and noble lineage.

Through their words my name will live on.
My legacy will be preserved through the stories and legends told by my descendants.
