With lyrics inspired by Cyberpunk imagery and the Cyberpunk subculture, Dope Stars Inc. have been mixing industrial beats, acid synths and distorted sounds with a bratty rock’n’roll sound and attitude since their foundation in May 2003, Italy.
With their debut self-produced EP “10,000 Watts Of Artificial Pleasures” the band caught the interest of the international press and and was quickly signed with Trisol Music Group to release two albums,“Neuromance” (2005) and “Gigahearts” (2006).
Through the years they have infected a horde of loyal fans and spread like a virus over communities and global networks.
The band toured extensively between 2005 and 2008 performing on stages across Europe and supporting bands like London After Midnight, Kirlian Camera, ASP, Apoptygma Berzerk, Nightwish, Combichrist, My Dying Bride, and others. The band also performed at European festivals like Mera Luna, Wave Gotik Treffen, Amphi Festival, Summer Darkness, On A Dark Winter Night, Infest UK, and Trash Fest I & II in Finland. Songs by Dope Stars Inc. also appear on the soundtrack albums of the horror movie saga "Saw".
Their 3rd studio album (upcoming this summer) has been licensed to Trisol Music Group in Europe, Metropolis Records in North American and Subsound Records in Italy. Before it's release an advance EP including 2 tracks from the new album and titled "Criminal Intents / Morning Star - Double Feature EP" will be released on 21st April 2009. After the EP some concert dates are being planned in May and an International Tour will follow after the full length album release.

Better Not to Joke
Dope Stars Inc. Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
We want the music. not to pray
And keep on sharing leaving no doubt
We leave no friend outside the game
Hey we want the music for the rich and poor
Hey you cannot block it anytime
In every place we are gonna roll back
Anything we desire is
Ready on the web
Ready on the web
Ready on the web
There can't be freedom with a gate so
Who's gonna be outside the game? so
We're not a baby just to keep shut
Whooo
Whatever you can try again just fail
The only tards who make a jump whoo
Are just the people from the big corps
Hey hey
But a new morning is going to pitch their thoughts
Cause everything is just turning back the same
It's no one fault
Nothing on the globe
It's no one fault
Have the right to own
It's no one fault
Anything we pwn
It's no one fault
Better not to joke
The song "Better Not to Joke" by Dope Stars Inc. is a powerful and rebellious anthem advocating for the freedom to listen to and share music without any restrictions or gatekeepers. The lyrics assert that everyone has the right to access music, regardless of their social or economic status, and that music should not be restricted by any external authority.
The first verse emphasizes the importance of music and calls for it to be shared widely and freely. The line "We want the music, not to pray" suggests a desire for music to be a unifying force rather than a divisive one based on religion or other beliefs. The use of "turboright" indicates a sense of urgency and determination in this goal. The chorus repeats the idea that music should be available to all, and that attempts to block it will be unsuccessful.
The second verse takes a more confrontational approach, challenging those who seek to control access to music. The line "There can't be freedom with a gate so who's gonna be outside the game?" questions the legitimacy of any authority that seeks to restrict access to music. The use of "tards" to describe those who obstruct access to music is derogatory, but emphasizes the frustration of the singer. The final lines of the song assert that the ability to enjoy and share music is a right that cannot be taken away.
Overall, "Better Not to Joke" is a forceful and assertive cry for music freedom and access. The lyrics reject any attempts to control or restrict access to music, and assert the importance of music in bringing people together.
