Dopethrone is a sludge / stoner metal band that was established in March 20… Read Full Bio ↴Dopethrone is a sludge / stoner metal band that was established in March 2008 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada as a completely D.I.Y. project in the very core of Hochelaga. After only 3 weeks of legendary drunkenness and sacred bong worship, the members of Dopethrone had already composed 4 songs and were planning out a concept for an album.

A year later, the new album: "Demonsmoke" was materialized. In the spirit of "Do-It-Yourself", The Logo and concept was created by Vincent (guitar - vocals), the recording by Thomas (drummer) and the CD was produced by Vyk (bassist).

In 2011 Dopethrone released "Dark Foil" and the followed it in 2012 with "III" both were recorded by Thomas (drummer) and produced by Vyk (bassist).

Dopethrone has members of: Vatican, Blight, Unquintessence, (ex)Excreted Cowboy and (ex)Fatal Flaw.

sludge and powerviolence go hand in hand. west coast powerviolence and pretty much all of the genre that is 'powerviolence ' has sludgy-as-fuck slow breakdowns in songs. im pretty sure it's essential

Good advice and I will take it heart, but I completely disagree with your statement. The 2 genres have rarely crossed over into each other in my experience. I've never seen Spazz and Sleep on the same billing. Nor have I ever seen Man is the Bastard open up for High on Fire. It would be great to see Infest and Yob play a show together, but I don't think, in this universe, that that would ever happen.

Why does a band that is clearly playing some crappy brand of doom metal calling their song Power Violence Forever? Are they aware that Powerviolence is actually a subgenre of hardcore and that their music sounds NOTHING like that style?
