Tap Runner
Dopethrone Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Someone's got an hidden pact
Same old demon call
You got your mojo gone
One last dance
With the old drug demon
Tap runner
Feel no regret
Tap runner
Demon be gone
Tap runner
Now and forever
Open your eye!
The song Tap Runner by Dopethrone is a dark and powerful song that appears to be about addiction and the struggles that come with it. The opening line, "oh no you run the tap," seems to refer to someone who is indulging in a destructive behavior, most likely drug or alcohol abuse. The line "someone's got a hidden pact" suggests that this person has made some sort of deal or agreement with the addiction, which is now controlling their life. The "same old demon call" reinforces the idea that this is a persistent problem that the person is unable to escape.
The chorus of the song is a call to action, urging the person to confront their addiction and overcome it. The line "one last dance with the old drug demon" implies that the person is aware of the need to make a change, but is perhaps hesitant to fully commit. The repeated call of "tap runner" seems to be a battle cry of sorts, encouraging the person to take control and break free.
