Clark Cole's self-titled solo debut, released in 2002, won two Stellar Awards and a Soul Train Lady of Soul Award (Best Female Gospel Artist). The album featured the hit single "I'm Coming Out". Her second album, The Rose of Gospel, was released in 2005. The live portions of both albums were produced by Asaph Ward, famous for his work with Kim Burrell who counts Dorinda as well as the Clark Sisters as a direct vocal influence.
Dorinda was featured on the title track of Kirk Franklin's Hero album.
In addition to being a recording artist and evangelist, Clark Cole is a prominent figure in the Church of God in Christ, serving as president of the First Ecclesiastical Southwest Jurisdictional No. 1 of the Church of God in Christ and vice-president of the COGIC's International Music Department. She is an administrator and instructor at the Clark Conservatory of Music in Detroit (founded by Mattie Moss Clark in 1979), and is an administrator at the Greater Emmanuel Institutional COGIC, pastored by her brother-in-law, J. Drew Sheard (Karen's husband).

Hey, You, You, You are
You are my inspiration
Everything I am and ever hope to be
You are the reason I made it through
I'm nothig without You
You are the reason I live and move
The reason why I can't lose
You are
The reason I made it through
I'm nothing without You
I'm sure I couldn't make it
This storm I couldn't face it
This habbit I couldn't break it
Had it not been for You
Oh oh oh oh
Without you my life would be over
I'm sure, I'd never recover
I'm so glad I can even call You friend
Hey oh oh
You are my inspiration
Everything I am and ever hope to be
You are
The reason I made it through
I'm nothig without You
You are
The reason I live and move
You are
The reason why I can't lose
You are the reason I made it through
I'm nothing without You
I'm sure I couldn't make it
This storm I couldn't face it
This habbit I couldn't break it
Had it not been for You
Oh oh oh oh
Without you, my life would be over
I'm sure, I'd never recover
I'm so glad I can even call you friend
Oh oh Oh oh oh
You are my inspiration
Everything I am and ever hope to be
You are
The reason I made it through
I'm nothig without You
You are
The reason live and move
You are
The reason that I can't lose
You are
The reason I made it through
I'm nothing without You
You are, you are, Lord you are
Everything I need, everything I need and more
You are, you are, Lord you are
Better to me than I've ever been before
You are, you are, Lord you are
Everything I need, everything I need and more
You are, you are, Lord you are
Better to me than I've ever been before
You are
you're the one that I can chose
You are
There's no other love like you
You are
Without your presense I can't move
(I can't move, No no no Whoa!)
You are
you're the one that I can chose
You are
There's no other love like you
You are
Without your presense I can't move
(I've got to say that)
I'm nothing without You
(Whoa!)
You are
I'm nothing without You
(I'm nothing without You)
You are
(I can't live, I can't move)
I'm nothing without You
You are
(Whoa, I'm nothing, nothing)
Nothing without You
You are
You are my light in darkness
You are
You're sunshine through on a cloudy day
You are
Reason why I breathe
I'm nothing without You
You are, You are
The lyrics of Dorinda Clark-Cole's song "You Are" express the singer's deep gratitude and dependence on God. The repeated refrain ("Hey, You, You, You are") emphasizes the personal relationship that the singer has with God. She calls Him her inspiration, the reason she can make it through difficult times, and the source of all her strength. She acknowledges that she cannot face life's storms, break bad habits, or find meaning in life without Him. The singer also values God's companionship and describes Him as a friend. The final lines of the song suggest that God is the singer's light, sunshine, and reason for breathing.
